Description
Dog Breed: Papillon (long coat). Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying. Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 12/13/2025: Jonti - male - Jan 2026, will be 2 - 6.14 pounds - Papillon Reason for intake: Jonti came to us as an owner-surrender. He was spotted on Facebook as being given away. A local lady who helps area rescue groups spotted him and was worried about where he might end up. She asked the owners if she could take him and find him a rescue. They agreed and she went and got him and then contacted us. He's a sweet little boy who dances to be picked up. It's so cute. He's heading to our vet the week of 12/15/2025 for everything he needs, including neutering! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: .facebook/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at .roadtorescuela. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~ Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life. Overview:
The enchanting Papillon, whose name translates to "butterfly" in French, truly lives up to its moniker with its distinctive, fringed ears that resemble delicate wings. Originating from European royalty and depicted in art as early as the 16th century, these elegant toy dogs were once known as Continental Toy Spaniels. Physically, they are small but sturdy, typically weighing between 5 to 10 pounds, with a long, silky coat that requires regular brushing to prevent tangles. Their temperament is a delightful blend of intelligence, playfulness, and affection, making them highly trainable and eager to please. Papillons are surprisingly energetic for their size, enjoying walks and mental stimulation, yet they are equally content to cuddle on a lap. They are generally well-suited for apartment living due to their compact size, and their friendly nature often makes them good companions for families with older, respectful children. While generally healthy, responsible breeders screen for potential issues such as patellar luxation and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, the Papillon is a charming, adaptable companion that brings joy and elegance to any home.
