PEPPER: AT SHELTER - LABRADOR RETRIEVER / MIXED (SHORT COAT) DOG FOR ADOPTION

Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Too young to be a mother, as she is a puppy herself at only a year old, Pepper was one of the dogs recently brought to the shelter due to her family's health and medical issues. They realized they were not able to care for all the dogs at their home, and asked for assistance. Pepper and her sister lacked experience with leash walking and have made huge strides at the shelter learning to walk on leash, and now associate good things--leash walking--with the volunteers who spend time daily convincing them that life is better when you can get out and about. Pepper was glad that we took baby care off her plate so she can concentrate on getting fit and trim and finding a home! Pepper is still not sure about a leash guiding her, but is learning to accept it as part of her new life. She has no confidence whatsoever and is still wishing she could dive into a hole and hide, but we are helping her through use of treats and lots of attention.
