    Thor

    rescue
    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd / Great Pyrenees (long coat). Please take the time to read the entire profile. We spend alot of time putting as much info in them as possible. Thank you in advance. Thor- We have no idea why this guy has been passed by he does great with dogs, cats, kids and loves attention. He is a cuddle muffin who just wants love. Thor is a stunning crème colored Anatolian, great Pyrenees mix guy. He is a big guy and filling out to be a big dog! He is tall and lanky like the Anatolian, and has all the fluff of a great Pyrenees. He is a handsome guy and has a sweet personality. He is a typical livestock guardian breed and is aloof with new people and dogs. But warms up well. He is a handsome guy who really just needs a home of his own to blossom into a great forever friend. He is a smart dog who really wants to please and would love a home where he can excel and be the dog we know he can be. He is a great dog for a home that has experience with the breed. Thor came to us when his family was not a good fit for him. She had gotten him as a pup, far to young to be away from mom. She had to bottle feed him to keep him alive. He grew up but did not get a lot of training but did get a lot of love. He is typical for his breed and aloof and a lot of dog to take on as a pup. She did what she thought was the best and worked with him at home and helped show him that things were good. His biggest issue was not being used to other people outside the home. He is a great dog and she felt that she was not the best place for him and asked us to help. We are thrilled she did as he is a great dog and we love to help out dogs in need. Thor is a great dog who is happy go lucky once he gets used to you. He is typical of a LSG dog and will bark if he hears something and needs a home where alerting is ok, so he is not an in town type of dog. He also will not be placed as an outside dog, he needs to be with his family. He has been around other animals, dogs, cats, ect. But he lives inside with his home. He would do great as a dog who can be outside with his family and inside with them, but he will not be an outside only livestock guardian. He is house broken, crate trained and does ok on leash. He is great with kids once he gets use to them but because of his temperament he needs a home that will go slow with him or one with older kids. He loves to be cuddled and loves attention. He just wants a home where he can be his happy goofy self. He is just a great dog who wants love and a family. Thor is up to date, dewormed, flea treated, altered and ready for a new home. He is house broken, crate trained, and does ok on leash. He is doing great with basic commands but like a typical LSG he works on his own terms. They are meant to be independent thinkers. He is good with dogs, cats, kids, and other animals and would love a home where he can be a LSG and protect his home from the boggy man. He loves to hang out with his family and is a lover guy who wants attention and to be part of a home. He is a smart dog who loves to hang out and watch the world go by. He is an amazing dog for a home who knows the breed and wants a dog who will love them and keep them safe! We spend a lot of time trying to get to know the dogs in our program as best as we can. This means that we have spent time introducing them to dogs, cats, kids, animals, people and as many things as we can. We try to do as much as we can to evaluate them, both with in our group and if the dogs come from other rescues or shelters their evaluations as well. However dogs are individuals and will react to different situations differently. This means that we do not know how a dog will react in every situation. We give out our best guess based off information provided but the handler of a dog and the way they are introduced to a situation makes a huge impact. So if you have any questions of how to introduce a dog to your home, please let us know and we will provide as much info as we can from pamphlets to helping find a trainer in your area. Our rescue aims to help dogs who are passed by and over looked by most rescues and people. We help the dogs who are in need of medical care, vetting, training and breeds that most will not help with. In most shelters if you are large dog, a big dog, or a male dog; from the moment you walk in you are on barrowed time. If you have docked ears or are a guardian breed your time was over before you walked in the doors. We aim to save these dogs and give them a second chance. Please help us save more lives by helping with our medical bills as they grow. This year has already been hard and we have many medical dogs in need. https://www.gofundme.com/v2eap2f8 If you would like to adopt this pet please send us an email. Applications will be sent to you via email. We do our best to get back to emails in 24 hrs. If it has been longer then that please resend another email. We would love to hear from you. We welcome any questions that you may have. Our goal is to find the right fit for every home, not just any home! We have been informed that some of the links to email us regarding our adoptable dogs are not working. This has been on going for a few weeks with petfinder and a few other links. If you find this to be an issue that you are having please send an email directly to us at: RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com If you are inquiring on a specific pet we do ask that you put the name of the pet in the subject line. So we know who it is that you are inquiring regarding. Thank you in advance for understanding as we work through this. As with any rescue we are always in need of donations. MANY of our dogs come in with special needs or medical issues. These need to be resolved before going home. If you would like to make a donation toward a dogs medical care you can use our paypal address RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com you can also email us for a physical address. We are always in need of dog food, soft food for some of our special needs dogs, collars, leashes, crates, and toys!

Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd / Bernese Mountain Dog. Hullo.... My name is Handsome Devil or sometimes they call me overgrown pup... or Chaco for short. I'm not really sure what an "Oaf" is but it sure sounds tasty! mmmm...do I love food. Maybe that's why I'm almost 100 pounds and still growing! Can you believe I'm not even a year old yet? I'm really still a puppy I swear! Although I must say carrying around this much weight is exhausting! My energy never seems to last too long! I really really like to play with my doggie friends. I think they are the bestest! People can be kind of scary though. I know I'm supposed to be big and brave, but big tall men can be really scary! Unless they bring lots treats though... then we can be friends fur-ever! Ladies are super dooper all the time though! They are so just so small, sometimes I think I need to save them from all the scary things or at least be right by there at their side warning them of the danger! I didn't have the best puppyhood so sometimes I can be scared in new situations, so I would love someone willing to take me new fun places with them and show me that the world really isn't as scary as I thought! Ooo.. Like in a car! I love the car. It is so fun to let my lips blow in the wind. Anyways, do you think i can bunk up with you tonight? I promise I won't steal ALL the covers!

    Tarlton

    rescue
    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd (short coat). Tarlton had a rough life before he came to Best Friends. He was named for the construction yard where he was found. Perhaps because of something in his rugged past, he shows some guard dog behavior. He needs a slow introduction to new people, but once he gets to know them, Tarlton becomes the most affectionate dog. He loves to give slobbery kisses and to climb in people's laps, even though he really doesn't fit. Tarlton was born in 2006 and is on a special diet for allergies. He knows tricks like 'roll over,' 'twirl' and 'crawl.' He's a world-class cuddler and bed-hog, though he also enjoys long walks. Tarlton will make an amazing friend for a dog-savvy person who can give him a little guidance. He's a sensitive guy who craves love, and he can't wait to give his heart to someone special. Tarlton is part of our Single Pets* program! That means that he is eligible for a free flight home and waived adoption fee! *Single pets do best as the only dog or cat in the home.

    Kona

    rescue
    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd / Boerboel Mastiff (medium coat). Please take the time to read the entire profile. We spend alot of time putting as much info in them as possible. Thank you in advance. Kona- Kona needs a very special home with a family that will be able to spend time with him. He does great with dogs that are his size, but he likes to be the one in control of the dog pack in his home. He would do great for an outside gaurdian. He has never been around livestock, and is very prey driven. So he would do best for a home who is looking for a gaurdian but can either keep him away from the other animals, or has none. He has gone through alot of training and has come so far. We think that he would do great with a home that knew his breeds. Kona is a stunning young Kangal, Boerboel mix. He is a stunning fawn color and more resembles the Kangle side of his genes. He has natural ears and tail and once he fills out he is going to be a big boy. He is a stunning dog and really just needs a home with a family that understands his needs. He is going to need a home that is experienced with dominate breeds and can work with him. He is a great dog in the right situation he wants to be someones best friend, protector and playmate. Kona and Maui came to us from a local shelter. They had been surrendered when they were abandoned at the previous owners home when his room mate got them as puppies and then moved with out them. He had stated that he would be coming back to get them and never did. So the dogs were never given any training, guidance, and were pretty much left to do their own thing. They came to us really thin, with upper respiratory, and needing a lot of training. We are so glad that we can work with amazing shelters like this one and give these two a chance at a great home. Kona is a great dog once he gets some one on one time. He has proven to follow his guardian breed instincts and loves to be outside and patrolling his property. He is great with people that he knows but can be aloof with new people. We have never seen any aggression with people but he does bark and let you know if something is off. He has been exposed to other animals and is doing well with them but is not a livestock guardian, he missed those genes, and will not be placed as one. He likely would not do well with chickens ect if unsupervised. But is going to take time to adjust to them as he had no prior experience with them. He does good with other dogs who are large and bigger, and does want to play, but also doesn’t like dogs who are fearful. So another dog would do well, but they need to be the right fit. He does best with kids over 10 as he can be pushy. He is a great dog who is still a pup at heart and just needs a home that can give him the things he needs. Kona is up to date, dewormed, flea treated, altered and micro chipped. He is house broken, crate trained, does ok on leash and is currently working on basic commands and socialization. We would like to find him a home that can keep working on these things. He is a big guy and still growing. When he fills out he will be a big dog. He has not shown any health issues and is over his URI infection and getting better each day. He does love to hang out, patrol his home and be with his people. He is a great dog who just needs a home that can work with him and continue his training. Ollie

    rescue
    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd (medium coat). Ollie is shy with strangers, but once you're his friend he'll show you only the deepest dedication. He overcomes his worries quickly, so all he needs is a little time to become someone's best bud. Ollie was born in 2013, and he loves the great outdoors. He walks perfectly on a leash, enjoys having some space to roam around in and would make a fantastic running partner. Ollie has come a long way since he came to the Sanctuary, and he can't wait to find a home where he can continue to overcome his anxieties and increase his confidence. He'd also prefer to be someone's one and only, though he may be able to live with the right dog. If you're ready to turn this shy boy into your very best friend, Ollie would love to meet you. Ollie is part of our Single Pets* program! That means that he is eligible for a free flight home and waived adoption fee! *Single pets do best as the only dog or cat in the home.

    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd / Australian Shepherd. We went to pick up a few puppies in need at the shelter and just couldn't leave this big guy behind. Bongo appears to be a Anatolian/Aussie mix (he has the CUTEST tailess wiggle butt - hence the Aussie guess). He is about 70 lbs and could stand to gain a few more. He loves to play with other dogs and wiggle and bounce. He is just gorgeous and enjoys all the attention and touch he can get. We guess he is about a year and a half old. Please consider making him part of your home. Please go to our website at www.whiteriveranimalrescue.org to fill out an application online. We will contact you for an interview once we have reviewed it. Our adoption fee is $500.00 and our minimum age for adopting is 28. To adopt a puppy under 5 months you must be able to be home with them or take them to work with you. Dogs coming on transports come on Saturdays and you must be available to pick up your new family member.

    Pullo

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Anatolian Shepherd
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Anatolian Shepherd. Please note that since TAGS is a smaller volunteer program, we are limited to adoptions within the Durham Region area. We encourage those applicants who apply outside of the area to check your local shelters and rescue programs. We are always happy to refer you to a program in your area. Making himself comfortable on the couch, elegant Pullo is 122 pounds of puppy-like happiness and energy. Loving and playful, he gets along well with older children and other dogs, likes sticks and toys, and is known at the dog park as the gentle giant. Because he thrives on being VERY active, his daily exercise routine includes several long walks, both on and off leash, on the trails near his home, and running loose in the fenced backyard. Obedience trained, among the many commands he knows are "sit", "stay", "gentle", "no", "trade", "lie down", and "shh". An excellent passenger in the car, Pullo stands during rides and enjoys having the window open. House, but not crate trained, he’s allowed to roam free in various parts of the house (someone is usually home, but he’s fine when left unattended), and sleeps in a bed in the master bedroom. Very protective of his family, he alert barks, is fearful of loud noises, and wary of new situations and new people (he appears less anxious around people with dogs). Now precious Pullo is being surrendered to us because his caring owners feel he would benefit from an experienced adopter who has a farm or other large property along with another dog or two for activity and companionship.
