verifiedPosted Breed: Cocker Spaniel / Cavalier King Charles Spaniel / Mixed (medium coat). Welcome to Cocker Nation Rescue of Michigan! Don't forget to visit our channel at Youtube Hi there - I'm Walter ... a senior Cocker / Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix. I'm approx. 12 years old and as most folks can understand, with age comes health challenges. First off ... I"m deaf but that doesn't affect my day to day life but I do have congestive heart failure. I know that sounds bad but really just makes me cough a little and requires 2 daily medications. I also get drops in my long ears to keep infection at bay. Finally, my back legs are a bit weak so sometimes I need help getting up/down stairs. Now I know some people would think, why is the rescue bothing to spend money on me or put me up for adoption? The answer is simple ... they know I'm still enjoying day to day life and still have a lot of love to give to someone willing to look past my "senior" issues. My monthly medication bill does come to just under $100/month. Because I'm low on the activity scale, I'd make a great lap companion for a retired person/couple wanting to spend the days cuddling!

She is about 3 years old and 23 pounds. Reba is VERY shy with people and will need a patient family to help her learn how to trust people. She is playful with other dogs and LOVES to run around in her fenced yard in her foster home. She feels very comfortable with the safety of her kennel and spends much of her time in there with the door open so she can observe her surroundings. She is good with cats and requires another dog in her forever home (hopefully a confident, playful one to help her build confidence). Reba currently does not enjoy the touch of humans. We are working on positive touch therapy to help her over come these fears. In the meantime, she would do best in a home with out young children. More info to come! Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Please understand that all of our pets are in foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please email us to confirm attendance. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: To fill out an online adoption application please visit our website http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at 952-929-0777 or email us at email@example.com for more information. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog.
