    Delta

    Breed: Chihuahua-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. Say Hello to Delta! Delta is a Chihuahua mix (we do not know what she is mixed with). She is around 5-6 years old, and is looking for a family that can show her lots of love and accommodate her special needs. Delta has a very sad story, and we are working to ensure she has a bright future; she was found by a passerby laying in a ditch on the side of a country road. The person that found her had passed by the day before and saw her sitting there, but there had been many stray dogs, and they didn’t think much of it the first time. When she was still there in exactly the same spot the second day, they stopped to check on her. She had been hit by a car, poor thing! She had a broken back and could not move from her midsection down- no wonder she was still in the same spot! They took her to their vet, but did not have the money to pay for spinal surgery and didn’t know what to do next. By the time they had contacted their local humane society who reached out to us, Delta had been sitting at the vet clinic for two weeks, and the damage had already been done. She was no longer a surgical candidate to repair the break. While we are horrified with the vet clinic for not acting in order to rehabilitate her, we are still doing everything possible to make her comfortable. We have a custom wheelchair for her, and she gets around very well with it. The minute she is strapped in, she is ready to go! When she first came in, her back end was completely immobile- she needed help moving her bowels and emptying her bladder. We immediately began rehab with her, moving her around and doing flexion and extension with her hind legs and paws. After a few months of doing this, she is showing some movement in her back end. Sometimes, she is able to wiggle her toes and wag her tail a bit. She has also been able to potty more regularly on her own, but her adopter may still need to help her with this. It is our hope that she will gain a bit more mobility in her back end, but may need to use the wheelchair for the rest of her life. Delta is looking for an extraordinary adopter. She will need a person that will be patient and understanding with her, and willing to take a few minutes a couple times a day with her and go through the physical therapy with her, and possibly help her use the bathroom. She can be in the wheelchair for about 30 minutes a few times a day (due to having to hold herself up with only her front legs, and not being able to sit/lay down in the wheelchair), but can also be held and carried, sit in your lap, and she is able to move herself around quite well on soft surfaces (carpeting, grass, etc). Delta should be the only pet in the home for a few reasons: first, due to her limited mobility, she will not be able to get out of the way if another dog is about to step on/trip over her. She does tolerate some interaction with other dogs, but it is obvious that whoever had her before did not socialize her with other animals. She has resource guarding behaviors, as well, and we only give her bones or edible treats when she is in her crate. We do not know if this is because she was neglected in her past and had to protect “high value” items, or if it is just a behavioral issue, but with all her other obstacles, we would rather she just be an only dog. We are not sure how she would do with cats once she is used to being around them all the time, but she does bark at them. Because she gets around a bit slower, cats would definitely be able to get away from her if needed, however, to reduce stress in the home, it is best if she is the only pet. Delta is current on all other medical care and deworming. She is ready to find a home that continue her care and give her a happy life! Posted Breed: Great Dane. Say Hello to Sadie! Sadie is an extra large, extremely loving, and fun gal! She is very people friendly but may need a slow introduction with other dogs that are overly assertive or dominate. She was surrendered to our program because her owner was unable to care for her like she needed to be. In order to schedule a meeting with this fine lady, you will need to have experience with giant breed dogs (specifically her breed is preferred) and it is recommended that she be the only dog in the household so that she may receive the attention that she needs and deserves, due to the fact that she does have mild food aggression issues towards other dogs (not people), and only when left unattended with food/treats. She has been around children of all ages and does well. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW! APPLY AT: www.DogsFromMars.net! Ebbie and Li...

    Breed: Chihuahua-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. Meet Ebbie and Lil Bit! These two adorable dogs are a "bonded pair" and should be adopted together. Ebbie is a teeny tiny, 6 year old female, long haired Chihuahua mix, and Lil Bit is a 4 year old male teacup Chihuahua. Ebbie is a sweet and friendly little lady, but prefers only to be with Lil Bit (she does not like sharing food, toys or attention with any other dogs than Lil Bit). Lil Bit is a rather interesting little fellow- he is the product of backyard breeding, and he is the product of breeding the runt of the litter with another runt of another litter, and so on. He is a nice little guy, but loves to run around with Ebbie and is very difficult to get a hold of once he is out running around, so... a fenced yard is a must with him, and we also recommend a collar or harness every time he is let out. He is SO tiny, that he can fit through a chain link fence. These two curl up together, share food, water, toys and a bed, and Ebbie acts more like a mother to Lil Bit. Ebbie has been spayed and is up to date on medical care. Lil Bit, on the other hand, is up to date on medical care, but cannot be neutered. He is so tiny, and has such a delicate system that when his neuter was attempted, his heart rate dropped so much, they could not continue (he has undescended testicles, so it is an internal surgery on top of that). These two need a loving home that will show them what it feels like to be a part of a family, and get all the attention they deserve. They will need to be crated when they cannot be watched, as they are so small, and while they are pad trained, they are not considered house trained. Adoption Fee for both Ebbie and Lil Bit: $350 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW! APPLY AT: www.DogsFromMars.net! Breed: Italian Greyhound
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Italian Greyhound (short coat). Mason is a super sweet three year old puppy mill survivor who is looking for a fun and loving permanent family to make his own. Once he builds some more confidence and is socialized more to the new world around him, he could even become a good obedience or agility dog. Potty training is a work in progress but he is a people pleaser and should do well in that area with a patient family. He would love another dog to learn from and be pals with. If you have what he needs, please complete an application. The right family will be repaid with a lifetime of wags and cuddles from a very grateful fellow.
