verifiedPosted Breed: Cairn Terrier / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed (long coat). NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS! This handsome boy, Dexter, and two of his siblings were dumped in a backyard with no regard for their welfare or safety. They may have come from a backyard breeder, or a family who abandoned them. Luckily, a concerned neighbor brought all 3 dogs to our vet in SC. They were afraid to take the dogs to the local shelter which is full for the summer and has a high euthanasia rate. Our vet contacted us to help, and now all 3 pups have been vetted and will be making their way to N. VA on 7/8. FOSTER UPDATE - 6/29/17 - Dexter has been in his foster home about 5 days now, and is currently living with a newborn, a tween, and 2 smaller dogs. His foster dad, Warren, says he's a great little dog. He appears to be housetrained and is fine using the crate. He is a little timid when it comes to meeting new people, especially men, and tends to stay close to his foster mom's side. He's still nervous around loud noises, but he's still settling in, so some of this is to be expected. More to come as he settles in. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to http://foster.ddbnova.org and fill out an application.
