    Frida

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Weimaraner
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Weimaraner (short coat). Applications cconsidered for Frida must have Weim/Velcro Dog Expierence as she is welcome in her foster home until the best match comes along. Frida is her best self when there is a backyard, HIGH physical activity, and has another dog in the home, and enjoys social home. She just needs reminders to respect personal space. Frida loves the little and big dogs in her foster home, except when she feels insecure with overly assertive or confident dogs and sometimes senior dogs. Frida is not a fan of dog parks because she becomes overwhelmed in crowds, and can be a tad reactive or distressed. Due to her past of being chained to a street light for some time, She needs physical activity to help her neurosis and to avoid typical Weim obesity. She is on a special diet for GI issues. Her ideal home has a younger laid back easing going dog, numerous ACTIVE humans to take on hikes/runs, a backyard to work or explore in, and neighbors who can handle a Weim barking. Her foster home currently has 4 dogs, fosters, and an active foster parent channeling her high energy.

While he may be both blind and deaf he always knows where the food is, his bed and his human! He gets around the house quite well but sometimes he bumps against the furniture and walls. He is a goofy boy that needs to go out every two to three hours because he cannot tell you when is it’s time to go out. He walks very well with the leash and gets along with everybody including the cats. He loves to walk around the house and he LOVES food and treats. He is a very sweet boy and enjoys being loved on. He’ll put his big head on your lap and will let you scratch all day long! Keller is like an old man and needs a lot of attention. Please ask about KELLER when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas. Breed: Weimaraner

    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Weimaraner (short coat). Heartland Weim Rescue is NOT a shelter, we are a group of volunteers fostering our weims in our homes in the states we cover. Please be patient when waiting for us to return your phone calls, and e-mails. All volunteers also work full time jobs and return calls as soon as they can, usually in the evening hours. Hi my name is Pilgrim. I’m a happy go lucky, playful, 5 year old blue male. I have a natural tail and dew claws and my tail only adds to my character and charm! I’m super sweet and just want constant love and attention. I want to be petted non-stop or sit or lay next to you if you will let me and because of this I will hardly ever be out of your site. I will go lay on my dog bed if you tell me to, but I am stubborn and will push so you’ll have to be persistent and consistent to get me to go lay down on my bed instead of next to you. I do have a problem with counter surfing so I have to be banned from the kitchen when my foster mom isn’t home. Outside of that, I am left uncrated when my foster mom is gone and I don’t destroy anything or mark my territory. I love my doggy door and will use it frequently if only to go run outside with my toys and sit outside and chew!! I love to play with toys and go for walks and will get really excited to see you when you come home from being gone at work. My foster mom trained me to get my toys when I see her, but occasionally I forget and will jump but this is becoming less and less frequent with consistent work and training. My foster mom says I am super sweet but super stubborn too so I need consistent training and boundaries. Pilgrim is fostered in Olathe, KS and has a $250 adoption donation. To be considered as a possible 'Forever Home' you must FIRST complete and Adoption Application. Please be patient when waiting for us to return your phone calls, and e-mails. All volunteers also work full time jobs and return calls as soon as they can, usually in the evening hours. Hello! My name is Bordeaux and I am big blue boy. Currently I weigh in at 110 pounds but my foster mom tells me my goal weight should be at 100 pounds. Still I kept growing past the breed standard so because of my height and muscularity I will always just be a big boy. I am two years old. I loved my family dearly and they loved me but due to a death in the family I needed to come live with my foster family. I now live in Tonganoxie, KS in the country with my foster mom, dad, and 7 year old, three other big dogs, three cats, horses, pigs, and chickens. I love so many things in life! I LOVE to run. My foster mom is amazed at the amount of energy I have. She says out of the 25 Weims she has fostered I am at the top with my energy level. My most favorite thing to do is go for off leash walks in the woods. I do great off leash and can be trusted to always come when called. I run everywhere exploring - I run ahead of my foster mom and then I come back when she calls me just to take off again after she checks in with me. I also love to run when my parents take the 4-wheeler out to the hayfields. I will run for a solid 30 minutes along the outskirts of the field. I LOVE my meals and I am on a restricted diet to work on my figure. I have to be fed alone because I can be food aggressive around the other dogs. I LOVE chewing! I have so many chew toys - elk bone, a Kong that gets filled with peanut butter, Nyla Bones, and soft toys. On days that I don't get enough of my energy worn off outside I also enjoy chewing on the dog beds and then de-stuffing them. I LOVE everyone I meet. I am very sweet and would love to sit with you on the couch or cuddle in bed with you but that is not allowed at my current house though I still try to sneak on the couch almost everyday. I also LOVE to play with other dogs. My foster sister is another blue Weim and we love to rough house together and get the "zoomies" together. However, I cannot be trusted to play with toys around the other dogs because I get possessive and will growl and snap at them. Some things I don't love but tolerate... I am crate trained and will quietly stay in my crate but I have to be bribed with treats to go in. I am kenneled from 8-12 and 1-4 five days a week. I've graduated from sleeping in my kennel! My mom says she trusts me because I've been on my best behavior so I can sleep outside my kennel at night and enjoy cuddling with my foster sisters - now if I could only convince her to let me sleep on the couch..... I also don't like to walk on a leash - I need work on it but because I'm so big and pull, I get put on a gentle leader which I really hate! Of course every Weim has quirks. My quirks would include playing the "in/out" game when I don't get to run enough. This is a super fun game for me where I whine at the door so I get let out and then I immediately scratch on the windows and doors to get let in. I don't get to play this very often though because my foster mom normally puts a stop to it by taking me on a walk. I guess she doesn't like the game? I also like to play the "catch me" game by taking something I'm not supposed to have and I want a person or dog to try to take it away. My foster mom won't play with me and ignores me when I take things so I end up giving up and just putting the object down. Lastly, my third quirk would be that I can be very naughty inside if I don't get properly exercised that day. I will pick fights with the dogs, slide on the hardwood, and bark at the cats (which I normally leave alone). I am pretty vocal. I like to let my people know of noises I hear. My foster mom tells me I'm quite imaginative and that I bark a lot for no reason. However, I think barking at my reflection in the windows is a perfectly good thing to bark at. I also will definitely chime in when the other dogs bark though it's just for moral support as I have no clue why they are barking most of the time. I'm really a sweet boy who will make you laugh at my silly antics (or drive you up the wall...) and would love to meet you. Thanks for reading! SAWYER-Dalla...

    Breed: Weimaraner
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Weimaraner (short coat). Meet Sawyer, a gray 6 year old male, who is very laid back, except for when it is time to eat. He is a very calm chill dog (If you are looking for a calm weim – he’s your boy!). He uses a doggy door to go potty. Rarely barks at people or animals (totally ignores the Doberman that lives next door that barks at him). Responds well to guests entering your home (even small children) – no jumping only sniffing. Loves to just be with his people wherever you are, sleeping with you or hang out on the couch, but will sleep on his bed if you make him. He is learning that car rides are a good thing and can be fun. He is also learning how to properly walk on a leash, without pulling. He does ok meeting other dogs, as long as properly introduced. Sawyer suffers from some separation anxiety when left alone. He does pace inside and will drool at the back door, but is not destructive. He is learning how to occupy his time alone with treats and food puzzles. Sawyer is not a fan of the crate, he will try his best to get out of it. Sawyer is very food motivated and is doing well with his training. He will however, counter surf and dumpster dive in the garbage if it is left out. Sawyer's ideal forever home would be a home with older children and someone that is home the majority of the day. He does not require a lot of exercise, just a short walk every day would be great. He mostly just wants to be with you. Please ask about SAWYER when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas. For donations, please make your check payable to: Weimaraner Rescue of Texas, Inc. 4347 W. Posted Breed: Weimaraner (short coat). Meet Nikki, a sweet 9 yr old girl that just wants to be with her person, wherever that might be. She is house-trained and crate-trained, although she really doesn’t like to be in the crate if someone is at home. She will make sure that you know she is there and waiting to get out. She has been good with other dogs that are not alpha. She rides well in the car and gets excited if she sees the leash. She walks well on a leash and ignores other dogs in the vicinity. She is a good watch dog and will bark if she sees someone outside the house or at the door. Nikki sleeps in her bed in the room with her foster mom and will wake her up when she thinks it is time for breakfast. She is food motivated, but now knows to lay down and stay until told she can eat. She does have a large lipoma on her belly beside her left hind leg, but the vet has said it is not medically necessary to remove and doesn’t hinder her ability to run and play. Nikki deserves a good home for the rest of her years and will be an excellent companion. Please ask about NIKKI when you contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas.
