Alaskan Husky Dogs For Adoption in Jackson, NJ, USA

Posted Breed: Husky. UPDATE: 10/11/2018 Diandy has been in boarding for over a year. We are still looking for a foster home, or adoptive family. He is 11 years old and neutered. Is not suitable for a

partment or condo living. Also due to the length of time in boarding would not recommend him for young children or other dogs. Would probably do well with an older settled person with a fenced in backyard. Diandy likes being outside enjoying the fresh air. If you think you would be a good match for him contact wilmawilmasorphans for an application. UPDATE: Diandy was neutered today and will be going back into boarding to recuperate. We are hoping that this will help with getting him in rescue, fostered or adopted. Of course adopted would be the best solution so if you have an interest in him please contact me Wilma at wilmawilmasorphans for more information. UPDATE: Diandy has had updated bloodwork and is scheduled for neutering some time in the next couple of weeks. He will be examined by his vet prior to neutering but we don't expect any problems as he appears to be in very good shape and health for a dog his age. We have come to the conclusion that Diandy will do best with a human male companion since he seems to prefer them to females. Again if you are interested in Diandy please contact wilmawilmasorphans. UPDATE: Went to meet Diandy again on Monday. I needed to evaluate him with other dogs. Introduced him to both a medium sized male and female. He was very excited to meet both dogs. The male was very responsive to Diandy’s advances but the female was totally disinterested. She was more interested in sniffing all over the ground under us. From this experience Diandy needs another active dog to live with and a backyard with enough room for them to run around in. Have not introduced him to smaller dogs yet but we do know that he lived with cats. He was not mouthy while I was there but does not appear to know commands. So he will need a person who has the patience to work with the basic commands to start. We now have a better idea what type of foster/adoptive home Diandy needs. UPDATE: I met Diandy on Monday and discovered he is 11 not 14 yo. He is up to date on his vaccinations. Has one cloudy eye but the other eye seems to be ok. He is very active definitely needs a large backyard and a lot of exercise, quite mouthy, needs a “refresher course” in housebreaking, and apparently doesn’t like grooming. Diandy needs an experienced person with the husky breed. He has lived with cats and young children but not other dogs. We are looking for a foster home without children or cats to help him decompress and reacclimate to living in a home with a family. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DIANDY CONTACT WILMAWILMASORPHANS.COM FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING. My name is Diandy and I am an 14 yo distinguished Husky gentleman. My father became ill and went into the hospital. His family was unable to take care of me but found a boarding situation until he got better. They told me it would be a short stay and he would be home for Christmas. Unfortunately Christmas came & went but my father never came home. I’m a quiet guy who spends most of my time sleeping. I do enjoy going for walks and walk well on a leash. Although I am a little apprehensive when having my leash put on but once it’s on I’m raring to go. Being 14 it takes a little while for my joints to loosen up but when they do I can run and play. I LOVE tennis balls, but please don’t throw them too far. I appreciate a large backyard and spending quality time there with my person. Boarding is no place for an older guy like me. Won’t you take me home with you. We are looking for a foster or permanent home so Diandy can spend his remaining time in comfort with a caring family. He is in good shape/health for a 14 yo dog. Maybe a little cranky due to his situation but we are sure he will be a happy furbaby in a warm loving home. If you are interested in Diandy contact wilmawilmasorphans for additional information. This is a courtesy posting.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
