ON AVAILABLE AT THELASTRESORTRESCUE.COM. If you have a question or inquiry please email us at tlrapplications@gmail.com Meet the handsome fella, Fable!! Poor Fable found himself for sale in a store parking lot for a very cheap price, along with his sister. The sellers allowed us to buy his sister but then changed their minds and wouldn't sell Fable to us. We found him being sold on Facebook later and went and got him immediately! Fable is 5 months old and we think he is a husky/lab mix. Of course, you must understand that he is a puppy and will need a lot of work and training. You will need to have patience with him and be able to deal with his "youth"! He needs someone that will be around a good bit so no applicants that work full time days and are gone all day please! Fable is very friendly but just a little shy, which we can certainly understand. He warms up very quickly. We would like him to find a home that is somewhat calm, and not overly rambunctious. He wouldn't do well in that situation and we want what is best for him. He is very active and he loves other dogs so we really want him to find a home with another dog to help show him the way and be his "buddy". Fable needs a home with a fenced in yard. Fable is really great with cats, which you will see in the photo. Fable will arrive to her foster home in NJ next weekend on 7/13/17. Anyone that applies to adopt Fable must be willing to drive to NJ to meet him, if the application is approved. Fable is up to date on all age appropriate vaccines and will be neutered. prior to adoption. ~~The Last Resort is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.thelastresortrescue.com/adoptionapplication.htm Adoption Application http://www.thelastresortrescue.com/adoptionapplication.htm

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
