king for a human companion. I would consider myself a refined gentleman, I love long walks, hanging out with folks, and cuddling when the day comes to a close. Once in a while I will play with my younger foster siblings, but they can be so jumpy! I do prefer dogs whose taste more a lines with my own. Trying to talk to them doesn't get me anywhere so I find myself a good spot on the couch, curl in a ball, and plop right down to watch some tele.
I get along with pretty much everyone, I am very easy going. I like dogs, I get along with the resident cat, and children don't bother me either. I would prefer more respectful children if I am going to live with them for as I get older, I am more easily startled. I also like talking about my day, current affairs, all the like, so it can be off putting to younger ones if they aren't ready to chat with me. Another reason I prefer more mature small humans. They love talking to me!
I also like to play with toys! I love ball and tug ropes, so if you like playing I'd love if we could toss the ol' pig skin around. When I was a younger man, I moved a lot faster so you'll have to take it slow to start but once I get on a roll I'll play with you for hours!
This last part I am going to let my current human talk to you about; I don't fully understand why I get nervous about certain things so maybe she can help explain what I'll need. She does a great job of watching me so I bet she knows what will be best!
Hi there! My name is Taylor and I am Dacotah's current foster Mom. He has done an awesome job telling you about himself and covering the things he is so good at! Now I want to talk about something any new family considering Dacotah will need to know moving forward. I'm going to tell you where he came from, why he is the way he is, and what you can expect applying for him.
Dacotah's previous owner came on hard times but did what he could to continue to care for his pup even after they became homeless. Dacotah and him lived out of their car and they shared everything, from food, to water, to a living space. For this reason Dacotah is not used to confinement and is not accustomed to being alone. Being an adult dog, around 5-6 years old, these traits are something I find to be a part of him, not something I need to train away. I am looking for folks who are home more often than not and will have to leave him home for maybe a max of 2-3 hours a day. He does need a special type of kennel and this is something that his potential home will want to research prior to applying. It is called an Alcatraz kennel and it is made to be unescapable as the name may imply. Left out he can hurt himself and possibly your home if he becomes nervous or scared. This is not something that I as his foster parent take lightly. Watching him shake and cower away from me if I need to kennel him is crushing. Which is why I am looking to find a home that won't require that of him. He doesn't require a lot of exercise or grooming, just a lot of love! If you have the ability to bring a dog to your place of work or work from home, he would be an amazing match. He listens to commands extremely well and is a very people oriented dog that really looks to you for support. Any applicant's will need this information and I promise you, should you be able to meet these requirements, you'll come to meet one of the sweetest, gentlest, nicest dogs I have had the ability to foster.
Thank you for your consideration, Dacotah says he is excited to spend his life with you. Ready to go?
