On intake, she was extremely underweight, and she has cataracts that make it difficult to see. It has been determined that she is also a diabetic, and a new family should know that she will require insulin as part of her daily care. In addition, Sookie had a small mass on her leg that was determined to be Mast Cell. She has had surgery with our vet to remove the mass and has healed wonderfully. She is now doing so great in her foster home but would really love a home to call her very own! Her foster Mom says she is the perfect mix of couch potatoe and playmate ! Sookie is a vocal lady who definitely has her own hilarious personality to show you. When Sookie isn't curled up on your lap (Yes, ON your lap), in her bed, or on the floor next to you she is exploring her surroundings with her curious little nose or demanding your attention with her adorable little grumbles! To Sookie, there aren't too many things greater in life than cuddling with the nearest human or playing with a fun toy! Speaking of toys, Sookie loves a good game of tug-of-war or a round of squeaking her favorite squeaky toy. She also enjoys walks full of exploring and sniffing and is more than willing to accompany you on an easy hike with some more leash training. Sookie is very tolerant of all kinds of petting, even some attention that might annoy some dogs. She does occasionally play a little rough so, supervision around the little ones is never a bad idea. She really enjoys interacting with other dogs, especially those who want to play with her. Once introductions are done she is happy to play with her canine buddy or simply relax on the couch next to them. Sookie has what some consider a complicated relationship with cats. She desperately wants to play with them but in true Boxer form, she doesn't seem to understand that hissing and swatting isn't playing. A kitty that loves playtime as much as her would be a dream come true to Sookie. Sookie has made huge strides in her leash walking but, her cataracts do inhibit her vision somewhat so unexpected objects in her path may trip her up. In other areas she is a lady. She waits patiently (with the exception of a few grumbles) for her food and allows you to take it away with nothing worse than a pout. She is a pro at receiving her insulin and acts as if she doesn't even know you're there when administering it. She really is the full package and any family would be VERY lucky to call her their own.
