She is a 2 year old pittie mix, weighing about 42 pounds. Her brown and white, short, shiny coat is dabbled with the cutest black spots. She was found wandering as a tiny puppy, all alone on the streets of Midland and won over her rescuers with her floppy ears and long, constantly wagging tail. She’s been part of a loving family for almost a year and a half, but sadly a serious medical condition in the family is preventing them from giving her the time, attention and exercise that she needs, so we want to find her a family that can make her happy again. Sadie is at her best when she is hanging out with her people and furry friends either playing with her tug toy or her squeaky ball. She also doesn’t complain a bit in her favorite spot on the couch. She curls up in a little ball and soundly naps while the others watch TV until she is offered a bit of popcorn and she’s quickly at attention. She also loves to run in the yard and take walks on her leash, smell the outside air and soak up the sun rays. She currently lives with 3 other dogs and 4 cats and loves the company of all. The 3 year old kiddo in the house loves Sadie and the feeling is mutual. If you’ve never seen a dog overjoyed, be prepared for it when you give Sadie scratches on her rump! It’s a full on happy dance! Sadie is an attention hog and she thrives in situations where she can get and give attention. She would adore having a medium to large furry playmate to keep her active during the day and a family eager to spend time with her whenever possible. She’s an active dog and needs daily exercise, but still wants to be an inside dog when her people are away. Sadie is a healthy, happy girl, is updated on all vaccinations, is spayed and on Heartgard and Advantix. She is a pretty low maintenance girl in terms of grooming, but a diva when it comes to loving and being loved. Be warned…Sadie has no problem giving affection, including endless puppy kisses. Kiss her and she'll kiss you back for sure. She is leash and house trained and is accustomed to a typical work day schedule. Sadie is in our Guest Dog Program and her adoption process will be handled by her current caretakers and Duck Team 6 will assist. She is precious, loving and full of fun-loving attitude. Please email us at placement@duckteam6.org for more information or if you just feel it in your heart that she’s your new lovebug, submit your adoption application here: https://duckteam6.org/adoption-application/. Her adoption fee is $200.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
