ys you’ll meet. Nothing makes me happier than snuggling with you and resting my chin on your lap, shoulder or even a foot will do. Weighing in at just 42 pounds I fit nicely in a medium size crate. I’m a terrier mix born in August of 2018 so I can’t imagine myself getting much bigger than this. I love having play dates with other cool dogs. I might be a little too interested in cats (if they run from me I want to chase them). On the other hand, the cats who don’t run from me are boring and I tend to lose interest in them pretty quick. I currently live with 3 boys (ages 7, 9 and 11). I think they’re pretty great. They throw my ball for me and give me treats so what’s not to love? I’m the type of guy who is always up for an adventure. I enjoy going on long walks but I like to run too if that’s more your pace. Car rides are great. Visiting the vet is no problem. I even tolerate baths like a champ. I like being in my crate when we’re on car rides although it’s not necessary. I like hanging out in my crate at home too except for when everyone leaves. I cry and whine intermittently until someone comes home to rescue me. I take medication to help me stay calm and it has helped a lot but I could still use some more practice. I have the energy to run, play and keep up with the energetic kids but when it’s time to settle down I’ve got that mastered. Do you like to snuggle up and watch a movie? Me too! I’ve seen A Dog’s Purpose more times than I can count. I know all the lines. So what do you think? Are we a match? Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website .wagsmn and fill out an Adoption Application. Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet! A home visit is required prior to adoption. Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination: Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
