;rsquo;clock somewhere! Jimmy Buffet might be refurring to the fact that 5 o’clock is a good time because you get to get your drink on in human world. But 5 o’clock is not a good time to be at a city shelter that is full to the brim…so that lil ditty is not a song I like to hear…until now… I was on my last sand in the hour glass at the municipal shelter in San Antonio, Texas, but my eyes were the windows to my soul…now that’s deep…I did the big sad eyes to a God’s Dogs Rescue volunteer and she agreed to get me outta there. I was quite the before pic with ribs showing and a big lumpy abscess on my snooter. Yucky! My name is Sheba and my breed is a Spaniel/Pitbull mix and current weight is around 50 pounds. My fur was minimal when I got out of the clink, but now it is getting Pantene thick and soft due to all the nutrients in the food I get here at the rescue camp. I recently attended a 5K run at St. Mary’s University. I rather enjoyed it. I met lots of new people to rub me and lots of other dog’s butts to sniff. I am playful with other dogs and excited that I finally don’t have to keep a laid back vibe like I did when my heartworms were being treated. Now my treatment is done, I am good as a brand new penny. At just 3-4 years old, I have plenty of energy and love left to spend on you from now until eternity. If I will fit into a special place in your heart and home, please email AdoptionsGodsdogsrescue and tell them you are ready for ME! GOD'S DOGS Rescue, in San Antonio TX, does not have a shelter - ALL of our dogs are raised in foster homes in the San Antonio area. Each dog comes spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations that are appropriate for their age, microchipped, heartworm tested and on current on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE OF $300.00 FOR LOCAL ( Local is in the state of Texas)! Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. IF THIS IS AN OUT OF STATE ADOPTION, TRANSPORT TO YOU is included in the adoption fee of $500.00 We transport all over the country!! All our dogs are socialized and we try to provide you a good understanding of the dog’s personality. Please visit our website for more information about what we do; .yourtxrescueconnection/. You will also find helpful information about transport, our adoption application and pictures of our all our dogs/pups looking for homes!! Please contact us at adoptionsgodsdogsrescue for more information about adopting one of our dogs and puppies or fill out an adoption application at .godsdogsrescue/adopt/adoption-application/ Thank you for wanting to adopt a rescued dog, their LIVES depend on it! Hope to meet you soon!!! .godsdogsrescue

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
