ier who steals everyone's heart! When my previous family lost their home, I was abandoned at the local shelter when the nice people there asked Mare to help. She says she fell in love with my sweet face. I'm MUCHmore animated in person, those rude camera things staring into our faces are a tad unnerving... She tells everyone that I'm absolutely the SWEETEST GIRL on the block ~ makes me feel good to be so appreciated! CALM, quiet, LAID BACK and extremely GENTLE, I lived in an outdoor only existence my entire life until I came to rescue where I immediately developed a taste for the creature comforts and plush surroundings of INDOOR living, and so I'm a reformed girl who's become the consummate Lady both indoors and out ~ a TOTAL well mannered house dog! My outdoor side shows when I have the opportunity to play with others of my species for I loooooove to play hard with other the dogs here, keeping up with the youngest, biggest and best of these boys and then napping in the sun to rest after such a good romp. I'm ever so slightly shy at first from all the many rapid changes in my short life but warm up to everyone instantly if you simply give me two seconds and then I learn new things immediately cause I'm SUPER SMART and VERY WILLING to please! I love to lie quietly at your feet indoors, go for quiet walks, and just about anything YOU care to do that let's us spend quality time together ! I'm always and forever ready for a good belly rub from anyone who’ll take the time to give me one ~ that’s my favorite thing on earth! I currently live in an indoor multi-dog foster home so I'm GREAT with other dogs plus I’m completely house, crate, car and leash trained and sit nicely on command for food and treats. I’m a VERY SWEET, gentle soul who is willing to do anything to please my people ~ a PERFECT family pet who would love to have HER very own human family ! Why wait??? Simply call Mare at (505)316-2089 for a private "By Appointment Only" showing at our weekly "Adoptions in the Park" !!! Or contact us via our petabulls.com website. PLEASE include YOUR phone number on all inquiries as we are RARELY around the computer these days :)

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
