have been living with my sisters “Wonder Women” and “Katina” at our foster home. We are also living with the 4 resident dogs who have been coaching use to be good puppies. Tike the female dog of house is doing her mom duties to coach and teaching us to be good dogs/puppies. We are kennel trained and we sleep in the kennel together nicely in evening and/or when our foster parents are at work. Normally, we are kenneled together, so we can cuddle together and sleep together.J In the morning and when our foster parents come home from work we like to get out of the kennel, and run to the back door so we can to go outside to the bathroom and to play. We are still working on our house training, but our foster dad thinks we have a good start on our bathroom training. He also says we need a regular schedule to go outside to complete our house training while (i.e. we need to go out once every hour) to get our routine down. In our foster home we can play in the back yard which is full of wood chips, which we like to chew on with our puppy teeth. J Also, we can run and play with my sisters and/or the resident dog. We do get the run of house when our foster parents re home and like normal puppies we like to chew. Our foster parents have a mix of toys for us to chew on and/or we bring in wood chips and sticks from back yard to chew on!!! J Our foster parents keep a close eye on use, so we do not get into trouble in the house with our chewing since we are still puppies. As you know from MARS web page our mom is Persephonie and is also a MARS rescued dog and is on the MARS web page. She is likely an American Stafford Terrier mix. My foster dad thinks that my dad was a chocolate lab based on my build, color, and behavior but he cannot be sure. We get feed in the morning and in evening in our kennel, so we do not need to compete for food with residential dogs. Mom and dad Feed Harley Quinn and Wonder Women together in kennel and Katana in a different Kennel since she came to our foster home a few weeks later. We are very food motivated which our foster parent says is good for training. We like to cuddle, and our foster mom will pick use up and hold us like a baby’s and we will calmly cuddle with her. If our foster dad sits on couch watches TV in the evening we will get up on the couch next to him and cuddle in a puppy pile. J. or // May 25, 2017, 5:12 pm

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
