d let her melt your heart. Kaily is a sporty girl who would make a great companion to someone who wanted a walk/run buddy or a companion to watch TV with. Kaily loves to watch TV, she will stand in front of it until you turn it on, then she will bark if she wants you to change the channel. This girls is a super great roommate. She knows all of her commands, very smart and just needs someone to love her so she can give that love right back. Kaily is 4 years old and currently weighs 68 lbs but she could stand to lose a few pounds. I’m sure with regular walks she would probably lose 10 pounds easily. Kaily has a great personalities, she is very quiet, friendly and gets along with all humans and dogs. But it would be best to be your only dog as she does not like to share her humans, she want all of your love to herself. Kaily does not get upset, nor is she destructive. She will sleep in her crate but she is fine just sleeping on her doggy bed, she is not destructive. She will play with toys but she would rather have some ear scratches and love from her human and cuddle besides you. She is not a shadow dog, very independent but she keeps an eye on you to make sure you are still there. Her solemn look turns into a smile while she is following you around and she is just close to you, all she wants s to share her love. Kaily is a great, very calm, well behaved young lady and will make a great family pet. Kaily is a Labrador Retriever mix with a bronzy brown coat with black going doing the middle. Now that she knows she is safe and not chained up, she is the perfect little lady. She requires very little maintenance and just wants to be loved. She has 1 male playmate that she is fond of but she is in a home with a variety of foster brothers and sisters. She gets along with small and big dogs, her first roommate upon arriving here was a 4 pound Maltese and he made sure she knew who was boss!! Kaily has a mild demeanor; not aggressive in any area and likes to get out for walks but not demanding of them. Nor does her behavior require that she be walked on a daily basis. Kaily's coat looks a lot better now than when she was first rescued. Please consider giving Kaily her chance at a forever home. You would be getting a prized family pet by adopting this girl into your home. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
