Australian Shepherd-Bearded Collie Mix Dogs For Adoption in Plainfield, IL, USA

Posted Breed: Bearded Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (long coat). Hello, my name is Link. My foster mom thinks I am a Bearded Collie-mix. She says I am a sweet, sweet, boy with an unfortunate ha

ir cut necessitated by a serious lack of grooming by my former owner. My seriously matted fur was in really bad shape thanks to a skunk, so it had to go. On the plus side, my haircut lets you see my amazing eyes. My foster mom says they are the most beautiful ice blue eyes she has ever seen. I think I am about 2 years old (in human years). I found myself in a high kill shelter in KY with my mom and brother. Thankfully Starfish Animal Rescue thought they could find us great homes up north so we rode on a transport to Batavia, IL. My foster mom says I am doing really well on the potty-training, she keeps me on a schedule and I do my business outside. I am super chill in my crate and I really just want to lay around next to someone on the couch and get my head or belly rubbed. I am a little nervous about new situations so I like to sit still behind my foster mom but I warm up in due time. I got pretty comfortable in my foster home in just a few days. I am quiet, I see no need to raise a ruckus about anything. I do get the zoommies for a full 30 seconds in the morning and night. Then it is back to laying around and chilling out, unless you’d like to go for a walk or something. I like to sniff the cats at my foster home but I leave them alone for the most part. I like to play with the other dogs at my foster home but I think I’d do best with chill females. Link would prefer a calmer, quieter home, so please no small children (12+ only) - this includes visiting grandchildren. Thank you The adoption fee of 400.00 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Although we do the best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can make no guarantee. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please visit our website at .starfishanimalrescue or you may complete the online adoption application on our Facebook Page .facebook/starfishanimalrescue/app/134425496630143/?ref=page_internal Once you complete and submit your dog adoption application we will set up an appointment to meet this pup! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
