ous WEIGHT: 25 LBS HOUSE TRAINING: Due to her diabetes not being yet controlled, she does have a few accidents but she does ask to go out. CRATE TRAINING: Good. She eats and sleeps in her crate. OTHER DOGS: Good! She gets along with dogs of all sizes; however, she does best with dogs her size or larger. CATS: Good! Continued socialization will be important. CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older ADOPTION DONATION: $400 HEALTH: CHLOE GRACE has juvenile diabetes and has some hearing loss, though is not fully deaf. She does require prescription diabetic food as well as insulin injections twice daily (Vetsulin). We are happy to provide a new family with 30 days of supplies in this regard, as well as plenty of instruction and guidance. Giving injections is really not terribly hard at all! Prior to adoption, she will be altered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Puppies are given vaccination boosters in our care; however, adoptive families will be responsible for the remaining vaccinations that puppies need. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue saved her at the 11th hour when she was overlooked by other rescues and shelters due to her diabetes. NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Chloe Grace is a puppy so she's playful and has a lot of puppy energy! She is super cute and fun, but like all youngsters, also a lot of work! Her forever family should be committed to lots of training - obedience, housetraining, and socialization. This will ensure that Chloe Grace grows into a confident, well behaved adult! Because of her diabetes, she is hungry and on the search for food quite often, so her new family will have to take care to keep her safe from things she should not have as she's ready to inhale everything! She is also pretty thin and so it's a bit of a balance to make sure she keeps weight on but is not overdoing it on food. Because of her slender figure, Chloe does need to wear some clothes in winter, but she doesn't mind- she's a great model. Working with a hearing-impaired dog is more difficult than one who can hear, but it is about relying on hand commands more than your voice. Just pair all your words with a sign and you will create a language of your own quickly. Motley Zoo offers a variety of training classes that can help both with this minor challenge and her socialization and confidence. Chloe Grace is a really sweet, young, happy dog who has a lot to give. Don't let her deafness or diabetes fool you- she's ready to take on the world! All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs. ABOUT MOTLEY ZOO: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is a volunteer run, foster based, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Redmond, WA. Motley Zoo does not have a traditional shelter location, but instead, utilizes private foster homes which care for the animals individually, in a home environment, until a "furever" home is found. Motley Zoo also runs "Rock Star Treatment" Dog Daycare & Training Studio in Redmond, WA which is a day-use facility and does not hold kennels of adoptable animals. The dogs there are owned animals who come to the facility while their families are at work and school so they can play and socialize in a safe environment. We dub this service our "Year-round" fundraising program which helps us support our rescue animals and the $15,000/ month vet bills we incur. This Studio location does have an Adoptable Cat Lounge, where cats may live until adoption, which is the exception to any aforementioned rules. Please email adoptmotleyzoo and request an adoption application so we can get you started on the journey to finding a new, furry friend! Once you have been approved to adopt, then we can set up a meeting with the animal you have been matched with. For more information, please visit .motleyzoo. Thank you for considering adopting a dog in need! Woof, The Motley Zoo Crew

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
