track down the owner and ultimately brought her to Upland Shelter to be claimed. We get emails and calls everyday about found dogs, and there was just something about baby Bindi and the desperation of the finder to do the right thing that moved us. Terri Denning went to Upland Shelter on June 12th and retrieved our newest Frosted Face. She was itty bitty weighing is at only about 25 pounds! She has slightly increased kidney values, slight anemia, and a UTI. We started her on antibiotics. She was notably weak and has bad arthritis so we started her on pain medication. Bindi is not one to pose for the camera, even for a cookie, but she does love cookies! Bindi accompanied us to breakfast the morning after the FFF anniversary party and was treated with bacon and a long nap. While Bindi usually moves like a glacier, she is sneaky! She can really move when she wants to! Bindi would be great for apartment living with kids, cats, or dogs. She turns circles to tell you she is looking for a good spot to go potty so that helps! We were able to learn a lot more about Bindi after she got to go on a two week Fling. Here is what her Fling mom shared: How often did your FF prefer to eat? Twice/Day Did your FF prefer to be hand fed? No What type of food did your FF prefer? A mixed of homecooked brown rice/Turkey and some dry food. It is easier for her to eat when there's some kibbles in it. Where did your FF prefer to eat? Beside other animals Is there else we should know about your FF regarding meal time? She needs her food and water bowl elevated. She doesn't see very well, so during meal time I have to put her bowl in front of her face then guide her to the elevated tray. How often did you let your FF need to go out to potty? Every 4 hours Were any potty training aids successful for you? Diapers/Belly Bands Did your FF have accidents in the house? Many the entire stay Is there else we should know about your FF regarding bathroom behavior? While she like to go outside to potty, there are times where she peed and pooped while sleeping or eating. Please describe your FF's activity level and personality. Mellow Nap Often Is there else we should know about your FF regarding exercise or his/her energy level? She doesn't walk well and doesn't need much exercise. Which animals did your FF encounter? Small Dogs Big Dogs Please provide feedback about your FF with other animals. Non reactive. There was no curiosity and no sniffing. Barely noticed them. Which kinds of people did your FF meet? Women Men Kids Infants Please provide feedback about your FF with people. indifferent with anyone. Please elaborate on any of the above categories or include any additional information that would be helpful to potential families. Bindi likes to be held, and to sleep on people's chest. She's not cuddly, but she enjoys being around human. She would come up to us and sit next to us, though not necessarily asking to be petted. Bindi has ZERO depth perception. She would jump off from a higher place thinking it's just a small step. She will not do well with stairs, and cannot be left alone on a bed/couch. Please share any fun facts and/or stories. Bindi likes to sleep with her butt propped up! Please always provide her with a dog bed with pillow top. Get your application in now to apply for Bindi! .frostedfacesfoundation/apply/

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
