Transport in loving memory of their dog that passed away of liver disease at only 5 years old. We're certain that Ruby would be honored to know that they chose to save these precious lives in her honor. Kalista was born about June 21, 2015 and weighs about 43 lbs. She is wonderful with all the other dogs and just having a ball here. She is highly social with us humans and is a gentle soul. Thank you to the Carlson family, of Allegany, for sponsoring her veterinary expenses for a thorough check up. Sadly, Kalista has hip dysplasia in both hips with the right side worse than the left. Also, this truly amazingly sweet girl, ha a previously broken left leg that has healed, and is stable now, with a bump above her knee and that leg is shorter. Supplements and anti-inflammatory meds will be needed in the future with a likely hood of arthritis creeping in. Does any of this stop her - no. Kalista gets around just fine with a hopping limp and she climbs the full flight of stairs every night to be able to go to bed with her foster family. She sleeps through the night and rarely barks - what is not to love? Kalista also has worn teeth from chewing very hard things, likely rocks. Dogs chained to dog house or something worse chew rocks to entertain themselves. We are so happy that we've been given the chance to give her a fresh start and make her happy again. The teeth don't require any medical work,at least at this time. This is all we know so far as the staff at the southern shelter doesn't ask any questions as the reason for relinquishment is so often financial and they feel it is embarrassing to the owners. So, we will be learning as we go and so will you. The Adoption Fee for this dog is: $150.00. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list.
