issed her new Mom's face as if she had known her all her life & they had just been reunited. Their little senior had to go to the bridge but thankfully they are the kind of people who as much pain as they are in -- they knew the best way to heal that pain from that loss is to love again! They need Laurel as much as she needs to have her own loving family. Love when LnF can be a part of a healing process for families that have just lost a beloved family member -- it's always an honor. ** Be sure to watch Laurel's video below showing her playing with one of her foster sister's Jazzy ** Laurel is a young, very cute, very sweet, very friendly gentle Beagle. She’s unique in that her coat is red & I’ve rescued a lot of hounds & I’ve never seen a Beagle her color. She is one of those wonderful little dogs that when you just walk by she thumps her tail like crazy. She also has that cute trait of when you talk to her she tilts her head, just love that when dogs do that! Laurel ended up in a shelter in KY & I believe that her family really loved her but must have had a major crisis & had to give her up. I base that on the fact that she came to the rescue --- ummm – bordering on obese. We actually thought she was pregnant but no, it’s just that her family overfed her & must not have provided any exercise. She shows no indication of abuse or neglect, she’s a very happy-go-lucky little girl. I have her on the “green-bean” diet & she’s already lost a few pounds. She also is walked 3 times a week. Currently, she’s 26 chunky pounds but she should be no more than 20 lbs. She simply LOVES people, loves running & chasing all her foster siblings. She has those short little Beagle legs so she’s not adept (yet) at catching any of her foster siblings but I imagine when she gets down to her proper weight she’ll be able to catch whoever she wants to catch. If she sounds like the kind of girl you would love to bring into your life – please read our adoption requirements & if you can meet them you can apply online at this website. All LnF pups/dogs have been temperament tested & live in foster homes ~ All pups and dogs have been housebroken (puppies are paper trained) & crated trained ~ All pups/dogs have been Microchipped ~ Tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia & Lyme ~ Each dog is on Heartworm Medication year-round while in our care ~ Up to date with Rabies ~ Distemper, Parvo & Leptospirosis vaccines ~ Wormed. Our adoption fee includes (30) days of FREE pet insurance with an option to purchase, but it's your choice. We strive to provide the BEST medical care available so that YOU are assured all our pups/dogs are healthy, up-to-date on all necessary shots, spayed or neutered by our rescue. Adoption Requirements: *A minimum physical 4-foot high fence or is higher is always mandatory and must be installed. Some dogs may need a 6-foot wood or vinyl fence & if so it's noted on their profile. We will not consider any applications that does not have an installed fence. We do NOT accept any type of electric fence, no exceptions.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
