Beagle-Unknown Mix Dogs For Adoption in Shakopee, MN, USA

Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 400. Hi! I’m Charlie, a beagle mix puppy who has a lot of love to give (born 5/5/2017). My mom says I’m the best puppy because I am very calm an

d snuggly, and I love to follow her everywhere she goes. Since I’m a puppy, I’m sill working on potty and crate training. I am doing really well with potty training – I go right away when I get put outside and then I get a yummy treat. If I am taken out on a consistent schedule I don’t have accidents in the house. I am also working on crate training. I don’t mind going in my kennel when my family leaves the house and I see my resident brother go in his, but I am not a fan of sleeping in there at night. I would much rather be snuggled in the bed and then I sleep through the night with no accidents. I am very playful with other dogs that are my size, but the one big dog that I met I was very scared of. I haven’t met any cats yet so I’m not sure if I like them or not. I have done well with the human baby I met – I even gave her kisses! I am pretty easy going, so as long people respect me I am very friendly towards them. Lastly, I love to nap! My favorite spots are on the couch next to my foster mom or in my soft dog bed. Remember, I am a puppy and still need to work on my manners. I will also need lots of chew toys as I go through teething – I love my Kong toy stuffed with peanut butter and my rope toy! If you have another dog that is about my size that I can learn from and play with, that will help make my transition smooth. I hope they are ready to play! I will be ready for my forever home at the end of July, after my vetting is complete. I can’t wait to meet my future family and give them lots of love! Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application. Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet! A home visit is required prior to adoption. Wags & Whiskers adopts animals within a 60 mile radius of the Twin Cities or a 30 minute radius of Duluth, Rochester, and Mankato. Thank you for choosing to adopt! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
