She is a rich chestnut brown, reminds us that there may be some boxer in her genes. (Complete guess, based on coloring.) We know that Mom looks to have some Lab and Black Mouth Cur in her, although that is a guess as well. Mama has a GREAT temperament. She loves humans and other dogs and believes she is lap dog, even though she is about 55 lbs. Lydia and her eight siblings are almost ready to be separated into foster homes. We typically send the puppies out in pairs at the age of 6 - 8 weeks of age. We are currently looking for adopters who would be willing to also foster, until the puppies are ready to be separated at about 10 - 12 weeks of age. Sami's owners found that she was pregnant and could not care for all of the babies and her, so they turned to rescue to help. These babies have thrived with the help of our volunteers and staff. We are so grateful they made this decision for this BIG family. The puppies (or the Lenten Litter as we call them because they were rescued the week of Easter) are large for their age and will grow to be large dogs. They will need a yard to run, plenty of interaction and a plan for positive reinforcement training. We look for homes where someone is home more than not, whether someone works from home or is a stay-at-home parent. If there are children in the home, we are looking for older children who are kind and considerate to animals. Understanding the appropriate play with an animal and giving it space is required. If you are interested in adopting, or better yet, willing to foster to adopt a couple of puppies for a brief time, please visit our website and fill out our no-obligation Adoption Application. tmhpr.com/adopt The Lenten Litter was born on March 24, 2018 and they will be a large dogs. Please visit our website at tmhpr.com for more information. If you are interested in meeting one of our pets, please fill out the on-line adoption application on our website. Dogs Puppies (under 12 months): $275 Dogs (over 12 months) $225 Large-Breed Dogs (over 75 lbs) $250 Cats Kittens (under 12 months) $125 Cats (over 12 months) $100 Rescued Declawed Cats* $145 * TMHPR does not endorse the declawing of cats Safe pet home visits & vet checks are required. For this reason, we only adopt locally - in the Dallas area. For more information about our rescue organization and our available pets, please visit tmhpr.com.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
