Hi. My name is Clara. I’m a fully grown, 65lb adult Bloodhound.
I’m a very energetic and curious lady who loves the outdoors! In fact, I can play for hours and hours. There are so many good smells out there! Oh, and let me tell you about the sticks! Big ones, small ones, they are all over the place. I do really want to find me a furever home especially now that I know how cool it can be to have hoomans in my family, but it is definitely important to have me a fenced in yard. You see, I just love the smells and the playing so much. I must insist and put my paw down on this one very important request if that’s okay.
When I’m not playing outside, I like to meet new hoomans and go new places. I also really like other doggies. I’m doing just great without supervision; if I do find something to put in my mouth, I drop it quick when I hear "leave it". In fact, I have learned so much about house manners; I no longer jump on people and I would never jump on a little one, but with my energy I could knock them over accidentally if they were just learning to walk. I’d feel so bad about that too. The 4 year old next door just loves me! I’m learning about kenneling at night and when my hoomans are gone for a little while. I kennel up with the command "bedtime" and do not bark or howl in the crate.
Although I get doggie treats, I like the hooman food the best. I haven’t found a food I don’t like yet. I do especially like me some chicken and hot dogs too. Oh, and peanut butter. I also like to do chewies on things. You know, like bones and stuff? Chewies are fun.
Since I am a true lady, I only do my business outside. I’m learning every day to do better on the leash for my walkies. Although I still pull just a little, I’m getting better. In my defense, there is so much of the fun things going on outside that I cannot help but be excited. Also- I thoroughly enjoy dog parks- it’s the best way to get the energy out!
Although I’m definitely open to having a brother or sister, it’s okay if I am your only dog. I do think that all doggies are great , but I’m a pretty confident lady all by myself! I am easily able to entertain myself because I’m very curious. My curiousness sometimes gets me in trouble as I learn the ways of a house and yard, but like I said earlier, I am very smart!
Basically all you need to know is I’m pawsome! I’m very loveable and will definitely do snuggles with you on the couch but only after we play and run around lots and lots and lots! My dream is to play with a family who will let me run and play and who keeps hot dogs stocked up! So, if you think you can keep up with my pawesomeness, then I’d love to meet you!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
