se call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. Hi, I’m Donna! I am a super sweet and affectionate girl who loves to be petted and scratched behind the ears and will wiggle and wag my tail just at the sight of you! I’m very playful with toys and enjoy fetching balls. I love attention and think I’m a 5 lbs. lap dog. LOL I also love belly rubs! In my foster home my potty manners are very good, I’ll go to the door to signal my family that I need to go, and very seldomly I’ll wake them up at night if I need to go! I’ve been left for almost 8 hours loose in the home without having any accidents, so yay me! Being with my people is where I am happiest as I just enjoy attention and love. I’ve been polite and curious towards other dogs when we pass on walks and I currently live with 2 senior doggies that are about 18 lbs. each and we get along well together - though I do try to steel the attention. LOL Before going into my foster home I got a little nervous and anxious when meeting new dogs, so introduce us properly please, and I seem to like mellow and easy-going dogs the best, let’s meet. I’ve had some training, and I know 'sit', 'stay', 'lie down', 'come', and 'go to your place’, which is a rug not a crate. Crates are my nemesis, and unfortunately at Saturday adoptions, I’m in a crate. I may look mean or bark like I don’t like you, but one of the nice volunteers can bring me out to meet you, so you can see what a sweet, smart and well-tempered, loving dog I am. In my foster home, we never use a crate so there haven’t been any issues at all, but I did bite a child’s finger when they stuck it in my crate while at the shelter, so if you plan on crate training me I should not live with kids. However, I’ve met kids in the neighborhood on my walks and liked them very much, and a young teen lives with me part time and we get along great! So, let’s just talk about me, crates and kids. Best no very young kids since I’m a little rambunctious and don’t want to knock them over. My foster family is working with me on a little excitement/jumping when I greet you since I am only 2 years old, but I aim to please you, so we can work on this together. I’m ready for some playtimes, nice walks, and some good hang out times with my furever family. Energy level: 5-7. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, spayed and my adoption fee is $275.00.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
