If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, it is in your best interest to submit an application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application. As an all-volunteer, foster home based organization, ARF does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we must give priority to pre-approved applicants. Shayla is a 6 month old female Lab/Border Collie mix who weighs in at 25 pounds. She is a beauty with black shiny fur - her photos do not do her justice. She has a skip in her step and trots along side during walks. She came back to ARF through no fault of her own. Shayla has anxiety when left in a crate or left alone (panting and whining). She would do best with someone home more often than not, and/or another dog for companionship. She is a sweet dog that cuddles and gives kisses. She had accidents in the house initially, but then did not have any later and her initial accidents were probably just due to adjusting to a new environment. She gets along with other dogs only after a slow introduction. She does not chase the cats and just sniffs them. She has slept with her foster's 8 year old daughter every night, acting like a teddy bear. She barks at other dogs on walks and those that go by next to the backyard fence. She does not bark at humans, only dogs. Shayla has already learned to sit and would probably do well as a running partner as she looks back at you and keeps pace after initially excitedly pulling. Shayla requires a fenced yard, so no apartments for this sweetie. She is a smart girl and would be a great companion to a family or individual. Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Shayla ' s adoption fee is $275.
