It has been an absolute pleasure witnessing your growth, joy, and transformation into the most perfect dog! You don’t have a mean bone in your body and all you want to do is cuddle and love! Thanks for taking nice long naps and playing so well with the resident dog so I can get my work done. Thanks for making my kids giggle with your playful ways! It’s so fun to hear their belly laughs from the other room. You go potty outside like a champ and I love that you come back in with a snout covered in snow (when we have snow). You love your time outside and zipping back and forth in our backyard. I’m so glad you don’t feel the need to sleep in the kennel anymore and that you enjoy sleeping in next to me in the bed. The only advice I have for you is this: I know it’s kind of a big scary world out there but there is no need to be afraid of car rides and walks on a leash. You’ve got this! I have no doubt that in time, you’ll be comfortable with these things too! Craig, you are welcome to stay at our house as long as you need, but I know there is the perfect person or family out there for you who is going to love you as much as we do! You are one of the sweetest foster dogs we’ve ever had! 1/16/24 Foster Feedback: Meet Craig - a fun and spunky pup who just wants to be loved! Craig is the “best of both worlds”. He is still puppy enough to be super playful and cute, but he is old enough that he is catching on to life and how to be an adult dog. Craig LOVES being outside! The cold never bothered him anyway! He loves playing in the snow, chasing balls, and will even bring them back to you! He is very much dog friendly and loves our resident dog. I think he’d love any dog. Craig can be shy when you first meet him but warms up quickly - especially with a treat. He has loved all people he has met. He is great with our kids! Craig is doing well going potty outside. He doesn’t show signs that he needs to go but when I let him out, he goes potty. He has had a few accidents in our house when I’ve lost track of time and not sent him out often enough. Craig loves his kennel and his preference is to sleep there at night. But since he is still a puppy, he thinks 5 am is a good time to wake everybody up and play. He is still a bit mouthy and will nibble on things he shouldn’t - including fingers and faces. He is not trying to be mean or hurt anybody but is being a playful puppy. He is working on his manners. Craig has a lot of energy and would love a family to play with him! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: .4luvofdog

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
