time he has been a good friend but a distant one also. It is said he was not treated well by his first owner who gave him away when they moved. He is deathly afraid of gun shots. Boone has a lot of prey drive. He goes after smaller animals such squirrels rabbits, chickens, and has even taken on small fawn and cats. He has resource guarding issues when it comes to his food. But he can be around other dogs as you see in his photos. His owners of the last 3 years have done their best to stop this behavior with training collars and other methods. And that does work well. He is fine around children and strangers as long as they don't corner him or invade his space. He does however have a strange dislike of older men, but will warm up to anyone given time. On the brighter side he is obsessed with fetch and lover of a dip in water on a hot day. Boone walks on a leash and will obey simple commands ( sit / lay / stay / come ) The owner states, "I wish we could make it work here. I've tried my very best but we can't lose another cat or chicken." He was never a working dog, but he loves to go on trail rides to the river and will keep up. But he has a one track mind, he is on the hunt the entire time. He does respond a lot better with the training collar when on rides. Again, he's good with people, just takes time for him to warm up. Given his history, probably has trust issues. These are very rewarding dogs to reach in my experience. Once you do, they will walk through fire for you! If you are looking for a very loyal and loving best friend, and don't have a lot of other dogs (he could be with another friend), and have no small animals, here's a beautiful mature Border Collie, who could sure use a save.
