Buddy Rich. He started playing drums when he was 5 years old and he practiced almost every day of his life. He named one of his dogs Drummer and he thought of himself as” Drummer”. So -----the DRUMMER transport. Gary loved animals and donated to numerous animal rights organizations. He always felt he should be doing more to help abused or abandoned animals. He was very hard on himself because he couldn't save them all. He rescued the dog we had together when we got married, Master, from Lollipop Farm. When we lost Master to cancer, we got Logan from Joyful Rescues. Then 6 months later we added Haley to our family. They both enriched and added so much love and joy to our lives. We didn't know that Gary would have so little time with them. Just over a year with Logan and less with Haley. The only thing he wanted to do when he was in the hospital was come home to his “children” but it wasn't to be. Gary would be so proud to know that lives were being saved because of him." ~Laura Leaton Dave was born about September 2, 2016 and "may" end up weighing in the 30 lb. range, but surely it could be more or less. Truly we are only guessing as we have no clue of parentage. Two of this litter resemble Fox Terriers and the other two resemble Border Collies, they are loving little surprise packages! These are happy, healthy, robust baby boys that adore their cuddle time, but only after lots of play and a good meal. They are fun, funny, and just full of life. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $350.00. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
