at comes microchipped, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and full of lots of love! This extra special adoption donation won't last and neither will this special dog...better hurry before this is sniffed out! Keep reading to learn more about our jubilant Joy! Are you looking for a little Joy in your life? Joy completely lives up to her name and is a total JOY to have around! She's a well-mannered and mature 6 year old Border Collie mix. She might be missing a few teeth but she makes up for it with plenty of love. Joy is all about her people and just loves every person she meets - any age, size or shape. At thirty-five pounds she is a bit large for a lap dog but she enjoys sitting beside her foster dad while he works or watches TV. She is affectionate, obedient, house-trained and crate trained. We want to match Joy with just the right family so she has a special, reduced Adoption Donation. If you're a bit of a homebody and are looking for a canine companion to love on and be loved by, Joy could be the girl for you! The best part about adopting a settled dog like Joy is that she's perfectly content at home and doesn't require a long daily walk to be happy. However don't be fooled...Joy is still full of plenty of spunk- she loves to learn new tricks and agility exercises in the backyard, especially for a treat! Recently, Joy has slid into the perfect "nana" role in her foster home watching over, playing with and mentoring litters of foster puppies. She is very gentle with them, letting them chew all over her, and leads them around like a sweet, doting mother. Despite developing a playful relationship with the smaller resident dog in her foster home and enjoying having young foster puppies around, she'd probably prefer to be an only adult dog at home. She can be a little grumpy to other dogs she sees on her walks. If you are looking for a great companion who will appreciate just hanging out and being with you, Joy just might be the perfect match for you. If you are interested in meeting Joy, your first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website. This information is as up to date and accurate as possible for the dog in their current environment. All dogs and puppies will need time and training to adjust to their new surroundings and learn the rules of their new home. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, the first step is completing the adoption application, available with our adoption process on our website at .labsandmore. Your adoption includes the spay or neuter, current vaccinations, microchip, and other services provided while in our care. The safety and health of our puppies is priority one so we only allow approved applicants to meet and handle puppies. Please understand everything we do is for the dogs and conducted by our kind and generous volunteers. We rely solely on donations and we do not profit from a dog's adoption. Labs and More is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates on donations and time dedicated to this cause by volunteers. Your adoption will save the life of future dogs in need. Labs and More makes no guarantees regarding the behavior, breed, or age of the dogs in our care. Although we strive to provide necessary medical care to dogs in our care, we cannot predict future or current medical needs whether they were symptomatic or not at the time of adoption. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
