Yes, I have lots of energy and need to run! What kind of home would be best for me? I am looking for a home with a fenced yard that I can run and play in or maybe someone who likes to go on long walks. I would like a family that will throw a toy, cuddle with me and give a soft place to sleep when all the fun is over. What is my personality like? My name is Rocket, I was found a stray somewhere in North Carolina. How can anyone loose such a sweet, goofy boy like me? Who knows! Anyways, I am looking forward to my forever future home. When it comes to my personality, I am a big GOOFBALL! I love to have everyone in the room smiling. I have energy but can be quite and calm also. I do know how to sit but only when you have a tasty treat. I need work with leash walking because I love to see everything all at once. Kids can be my best friend if they would like a high energy guy like me, also I enjoy the company of other dogs who like to play. I see the world as an adventure I have to yet to discover. How do I act when I first meet new people? I love everyone. More tips and tidbits: I like toys! I also ride very well in the car and enjoy curling up at your feet. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet.   3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
