nd a few missing teeth, but has no trouble eating. Maya was owner surrendered due to a move to a non-animal friendly apartment. She had been with her previous owner for 18 months after her first owner died. Maya is friendly with other dogs and she has never shown any aggression. She has the run of the house and has never been crated. However she went into a crate and settled down without problems. She enjoyed riding in the car and fell asleep during the trip. She has been in foster care in a home with 2 other Bostons, one of each gender. She has adjusted beautifully with an easy introduction. She walks well on a leash. Maya is very quiet, rarely barks, but will whimper when she wants to be on the sofa and will sit there with the other dogs or with the humans. She prefers to sleep on the sofa at night where she stretches out. She enjoys her food, both breakfast and dinner, but does not play with toys. Maya is house trained but has had some accidents when the humans did not tune in to her cues. She would do well in a home with an older child or a retired older person. She loves cuddling, petting, and attention. She is a lovely, loving lady. Maya Maria is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and heart worm negative. The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., "under 6," as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma. We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog. The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids. Ask them. Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.
