I enjoy getting my belly rubbed, I love all the attention you can give me, I enjoy the company of other pups and I have never met a toy I did not like! I'm housebroken and have adjusted well to life with one eye! Most important, I fought so hard to survive but not only am I surviving, I'm thriving! Now that I've had a taste of the good life, I can't wait to find my forever, loving home! ******************************************************************************************** 2/1/17 UPDATE: WOW....I'm looking good if I have to say so myself! To see where I started.....well, it's scary because I was....let's just say that I was rescued in the nick of time! But enough about that, I want everyone to know how well I'm doing! I'm a fun-loving guy with a hankering for toys....I just love my toys! They say that I'm a gentle guy and although I've not been around other dogs very much, I can't imagine that I'd be anything but magnificant with other dogs. As you can see, I've had a hard life. I don't want you to feel sorry for me but I don't want to sugar coat things either. I've had several surgeries including one to remove my left eye. My right eye works just fine so I'll be okay but I'm still getting used to life with one eye. Until I am comfortable with it, they say that I should be placed in a foster home with kids that are teenage or order. So, it was also recently determined that in my previous life, my back was broken at some point and, although healed, I have some arthritis that will require meds to make me comfortable going forward. I've been in boarding now for a long while and I'm really, really craving a place to lay my head other than this metal crate! I could really benefit from a loving foster home that will help me regain my strength and rebuild muscle tone! I'm like a budding flower.......I just keep getting prettier on the inside and out! Won't you consider being part of this fantastic transformation?! ******************************************************************************************* 12/6/16 Update: What a difference a few weeks makes! Take a look at my current and before pictures. I know to you I may still look like I have a long way to go but, to me, I've come a long way! I'm so happy with my progress! From here, I will only continue to make progress and will soon blossom into the handsome boy I am! I am still looking for my forever home but in the meantime would be thrilled if I could find a loving foster home to help me learn and progress even further! ******************************************************************************************** Well folks, as you can see, I've seen better days! I was rescued from the streets and taken to the shelter as a stray. From the outside, I know I look horrific right now but inside, my spirit remains unbroken! At at the moment, I'm getting the care I desperately need. They haven't even been able to determine my approximate age due to my condition. But don't worry folks, after my much needed TLC, I will be better than ever! More information about me will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
