r and have been living the life ever since! I have completed my heartworm treatment and I am recovering from the mange! Not all of my hair has made its comeback yet but my foster mom says I am handsome anyways. I also have allergies and have to take medication. I am two years old and have my moments of spunk! I can run boxer burns with the best of them but I also LOVE to be with my people and snuggle. I give the BEST hugs! I am still learning that not everyone wants to be greeted with hugs and jumps. But not to worry, I don’t show the same crazy affection to children and babies. I currently live with two young children and I understand boundaries. I am no saint, however, and I tend to forget my manners when I am running around playing with my foster brother. He is a pretty good boy. I do well with other four legged friends but I will stand up for myself if needed. My favorite things to do is to run boxer burns with my foster brother, play with stuffies and be with my people. I am a snuggler! I do not get on the furniture, like a good boy; but I will try to snuggle in my foster family’s lap while they sit on the couch and fall asleep. That still counts, right? And if you are sitting the floor, then you are in my territory and be prepared to be loved on! You have been warned. I am crate trained and potty trained! I try really hard not to have accidents in the house. My foster family is gone during the day and as long as my blankie is in the crate, I am good to go. My foster mom says that I have ADD when it comes to going outside. Okay, so sometimes I forget that I actually HAVE to go to the bathroom when outside. I LOVE LOVE LOVE breakfast and dinner. I also love to get treats. I may just sit for you if you offer a treat. If you are looking for a 2 year old boy who loves to snuggle and don’t mind that I am going through premature baldness (with the hopes of my hair coming back) please reach out! I would LOVE to meet you!! If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out our adoption application to begin the process. If you aren't able to adopt at this time, please consider making a much needed, tax-deductible donation to Legacy Boxer Rescue by clicking here.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
