Brittany Dogs For Adoption in Curwensville, PA, USA

Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Hi there! My name is Rusty Ray. At the risk of sounding conceited, I am pretty much the perfect Brittany. I’m young enough to have lots of energy. Howev

er, I’m old enough to appreciate naps. My favorite things are running – in the yard, at the dog park, in a field, pretty much anywhere I get the chance and resting next to my people. Fair warning, I am a cuddlier. Being petted is great, but I’m pretty sure there’s nothing better than a belly rub. My foster mom says that I have hunting in my blood because if I see a bird, I must chase it! It’s a little embarrassing, but I’m also obsessed with turtles. When I visit my foster mom’s family in the country, I like to spend my days tracking and terrorizing any turtles I find. Of course, I enjoy a swim in the pond or a dip in the kiddie pool to cool off after all that work. This has been a tough year for me. My person passed away earlier this year. I was very sad and confused, but my foster mom has helped me to love again. I am ready to share my life with a new family. From Foster Mom: Rusty is a well-mannered dog. He knows basic obedience and has a calm demeanor. He is not crate trained but is trustworthy inside. He is housebroken. Rusty is good around other dogs but is not dependent on them for entertainment. He would be content as an only dog. Rusty does not like cats and will chase then when he gets the chance. Rusty is a healthy, happy dog in need of his forever home. Rusty’s stats: 7 years old, 44 pounds, neutered male, up to date on all shots, HW negative, and on both HW and flea/tick prevention. If you are interested in adopting me, please visit .NBRAN to complete an adoption application. Contact Melinde Waddle at macgammygmail and/or Nancy Walker at nwalkercapecod for more information after you have filled out the application. The adoption fee to adopt Rusty Ray in Oklahoma is $350 to offset his vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful pets in need. Transportation can be arranged up 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for the last 100 miles.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
