FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: CeeCee Best Guess for Breed: Boxer/bulldog Best Guess for Age: 1-2 years SEX: female Approximate Weight: 50 lbs Has Lived With: dogs Currently Living at: an overcrowded rural shelter -- CeeCee needs a forever home ASAP!! Meet CeeCee! CeeCee is around 1-2 years old and a happy, super-sweet girl! She is just a love. She thinks she is a big lap dog and is content to lay her head in your lap for pets. We love this girl. She does very well with other dogs. She loves people and has done very well with children! Although she was abandoned through no fault of her own that doesn't seem to bother CeeCee and she has a lovely demeanor. This diamond in the "ruff" is ready be your new best friend...she can't wait to get out of the shelter and start a new, better life with someone who loves her! CeeCee says...Hi there, everyone! They call me CeeCee, and they say that I'm just the cutest, sweetest, most loving girl EVER!! Do you have room in your heart and home for a pup like me?? I have a beautiful, unique, white and brindle coat that is super-soft…great for everyone to pet me (hint hint). :-) I weigh about 50 pounds (not TOO big), which makes me a perfect size for an apartment, house or condo!! They say I am probably some sort of boxer/bulldog mix…all I know is that I'm a happy pup and I love to play, get lots of pets, and give lots of doggie kisses! Read below for more info on CeeCee, and email sheilam@luckydoganimalrescue.org ASAP if you're interested in her! CeeCee says: I don't know why, but somehow I ended up in this scary shelter. It was dark and really loud in there and I kept waiting for a nice person to come get me. But each time I saw someone, they would walk right by and I was still by myself. :( Luckily, the shelter staff say I am one of their favorites, and they hope that someone will step up and adopt me very SOON so I can get out of here and to safety in a loving home! Don't you think I would look really cute as your new Facebook cover photo, romping around in the sunshine and rolling in the summer grass!? And how I'd love to snuggle up by you after a long hike. I just really want to run, play, then snuggle, nap and dream of all the adventures we'll have together. I would just LOVE trips to the dog park and hikes in the woods -- I love to discover new things! CeeCee is an awesome dog and makes friends with everyone she meets! At around 1-2 years old, she will need lots of exercise to stay happy and healthy. CeeCee's new person or family will need to make sure she gets lots of socialization and playtime with other dogs and people to keep up the good social skills she has already! And like all dogs we adopt out, she'll need to go to obedience classes to build a strong bond with her people, and help her become a well behaved companion or family member. CeeCee seems to like all the people she meets, and can't wait to wiggle her way into your heart and home. Like most young dogs, CeeCee may need a refresher on her house training when she gets to a new home. She will also need to go to obedience school so she can continue to be a well-socialized dog! The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and heart worm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and e-mail it to at Sheila at sheilam@luckydoganimalrescue.org ASAP! Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament. Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs! To learn about fostering dogs like CeeCee, please contact us at info@luckydoganimalrescue.org! BE A SPONSOR!!!! Sponsors help Lucky Dog support the many dogs we save. To learn more about sponsorship, please contact Sheila at sheilam@luckydoganimalrescue.org. CEECEE NEEDS SPONSORS TO HELP WITH HER HEARTWORM TREATMENT! Heartworm is NOT contagious to people or other pets. After being treated, dogs who were heartworm-positive should suffer no long-term effects as long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. E-mail Sheila at sheilam@luckydoganimalrescue.org to sponsor CeeCee!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
