g negative to say about this dog. Ok maybe when he drinks he isn't too neat about it but really that is all I can think of!! He has all the positive qualities you would want in a dog. Calm, fun, polite, trained, friendly, etc. Don't let his exterior fool you - Moody is a big hunk of love! He has never met a stranger - child or adult. He loves to be with you and is content just laying in the same room with you. He walks great on a leash (doesn't pull) and is very calm and gentle. He rides great in the car and really just wants some love and a soft bed. Moody takes treats nicely and has all the best qualities of an older dog - house trained, crate trained, calm, easy to have around. He sleeps nicely in his crate at night but we are at the point I trust him to be left out. He sits nicely during his baths. He also takes correction very well and is a dog that likes to please. He is great with kids and won't knock them over because he is really very calm. Probably a no cat household would be best as well. He would be happiest as an only dog. He will do ok with a calm, submissive dog that respects his things and space. Look past his exterior and you will find a loving, wonderful dog that is looking for his special family or person. Moody is healthy, up to date on all shots, heart worm negative and neutered. He was found in Moody Park - hence his name - but he is anything but moody :) Moody needs a foster - he is currently in boarding which is not an ideal situation for him. Please read below and you will see he is an easy dog to foster - or better yet - adopt! He is neutered, heart worm negative and up to date on all shots. The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is an additional $10.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. If adopting a puppy, the rabies and spay/neuter will be done at the same time by our vet once they are 4 months old and billed to us. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
