prior to being adopted PLEASE SEND ALL INQUIRES TO WSADOPTIONSWOLFSPIRITSRESCUE.COM SO THAT WE ARE SURE WE RECEIVE THEM. DO NOT USE THE PETFINDER INQUIRY BUTTON. To be considered for adoption you must fill out an adoption application for this dog please visit .WolfSpiritsRescue Hi, My name is Whitley. I am cream colored young Chihuahua looking for a very special person who has loads of patience. My brothers are Pepe and Shorty who pick on me when we first run outside. Then I get upset and my foster Mom holds me and says it is okay. Toys I do not play with. When it is treat time I can do several spins. I will kiss your hand after I receive a treat. Like my brothers I know come and stay. Though I am trained to walk on a leash, a fenced yard is a safe place for me on breaks with you nearby. When it is cold outside, I can go in under a minute. A warm blanket on the couch is my favorite place and if you are there your lap is the best! If you know you are that person I am looking for, please fill out an application on me. My brothers and I are fostered in WI. Warm snuggles, Whitley. I used to live in a room with other Chihuahuas not able to go outside. Now I am being fostered in WI waiting for that special someone to call my own. Snuggle Bunny Alert! My name is Whitley. I am a young male, tan Chihuahua. My foster Mom says I am such a sweet boy. Going outside and playing in the yard is one of my favorite things to do. I was previously kept in room and never allowed outside. So I really enjoy my breaks in the fenced yard. I can walk nicely on a leash and am housebroke When I am inside I love to snuggle on your lap or lay next to you on the couch. I do well with a man or woman and love my back rubbed and being talked to. If you feel you are a kind, gentle person who will love me forever and give me the attention Location: 53014 Fence Required: Yes Obedience Training Needed: Needs Training Grooming Needs: Low Owner Experience Needed: Breed Reaction to New People: Cautious

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
