SF Bay Area of CA and is available to any approved adopter who is willing to come to us in person to adopt. Filbert joins us from San Jose Animal Care Center via San Jose Animal Advocates. He was surrendered by his previous owner for euthanasia for “being old”... luckily the great people who work there think that excuse is and asked if we would take him Filbert Nut is a 14 year old tiny (4lb) chihuahua who is up for adoption. His sight is minimal and he doesn’t seem to hear at all, but he is a sweet little guy who is looking for a warm lap to call his own. He loves to eat and nap, and is pretty quiet and easy going. He does just fine with the other animals (2 cats and 2 dogs) in his foster home. He will need ongoing thyroid and arthritis medication as well as daily eye drops, but he takes them all like a champ. He will come with a year’s supply of the oral meds (and they are pretty inexpensive — around $15/month). His eye meds are available OTC on Amazon. He is great about going to tinkle outside, but has had at least one accident in his sleep. This isn’t totally surprising at his age, but belly bands are the perfect help with that! We will send him to his new home with a reusable/washable supply Filbert would probably do best in a calm, home who understands that he needs someone very gentle, who approves of his sleeping habits (most of the day). All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet.
