have. Please check out our other dogs! ** Hello Moto is such a pretty girl! A Chinese Crested - Chihuahua mix, she is just full of potential. She is very shy at first and slow to warm up to her person, but everything indicates she will come around with time and patience. Moto is petite, about 8 pounds, and hairless on almost all of her body. She has lovely skin. She is estimated at under two years old. She loves her toys, like little babies, and she carries them around and hoards them in her crate or on the couch. It's very sweet. When she's happy, she wiggles with her whole body. She gets along well with the other dogs, and would do best in a home with one or two other small dogs to help her feel safe. She must have a secure fenced-in yard, as she is not yet leash trained. There are cats in her foster home, and she shows no interest or aggression towards them, so she's fine with cats. She is not recommended for a home with kids 10 or under, simply because she's just nervous around a lot of activity. Hello Moto has been very clean in the house, and seems to have good manners as far as doing her business outside. She retreats to her crate for security, but prefers to have the door open and the option to leave the crate. When left home alone, she is gated in a laundry room with a crate and dog bed. Overnight, she sleeps in a dog bed in the bedroom. She's quiet at night, except when she snores. Anyone who adopts her should expect her to need continued support and rehabilitation, as she is still a work in progress. She will take a little while to bond and trust her caretakers, although she is absolutely manageable during this process. She can be held, dressed, bathed, etc. It's just that she won't come to you on her own at first, and that could take some time, and plenty of patience and reasonable expectations. Hello Moto is being fostered in Greenville, South Carolina. We'd like any applicant to be within driving distance, as she is not a candidate for air travel or cargo transport. Applications and inquiries are welcome. We're happy to answer any questions you may have to help you decide to apply.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
