d for someone I knew to come find me, but no one came. So then I went to stay with a foster family who let me live in their house with them, and I started having fun! I like playing with the other pups there, and I like the people who snuggle and cuddle with me, but I really want to find a super family who will love me forever. Could that be you? There is more info about Dolly below, and if you think she might be the perfect pup for you, please go to .allamericanmuttrescue, click on Forms/Application and Fill Out your adoption application online. (Learn more about the adoption process at the end of Dolly’s bio.) Approximate age/birthdate: ~2012 Weight/size: 13 lbs Housebroken: YES … as long as you do your part and take her out regularly Crate trained: YES Personality: happy, playful, wiggly Energy level: medium Fenced yard required?: Definitely preferred so she has a safe place to play and explore off-leash. She is not very good about coming back when she is called, so she could be a flight risk. Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk: YES Obedience training: No … but she is very smart and will learn quickly Riding in vehicles: RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES Social with cats: Don’t know … has not been cat tested Good with children: Has not been around children in foster care, but we think she would be fine with gentle, respectful children Adoption donation: $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Dolly picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpupshotmail if you have additional questions.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
