your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team I'm just a sweet, gentle little lap dog. Look for me at the upcoming December New York Best Friends Super Adoption event! Meadowlands Exposition Center 355 Plaza Drive Secaucus, New Jersey 07094 Saturday, December 9, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. You MUST be an approved adopter to adopt from CPR. We highly encourage anybody who will visit us at the event to fill out an adoption application before the event. We will process applications at the event, but we do our full application process (so it will take time) and we must be able to speak with your references (it helps if you are able to bring copies of vet records). For full event info: https://ny.bestfriends.org/events/local-events Date into Rescue: 5/29/17 Reason for being in rescue: transfer from another shelter Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted, But I could use a few extra pounds! Weight: 8.2 lbs Height: Estimated 12" at the shoulder. Fence needed? Not needed, I want to be wherever you are. What kind of home would be best for me? I would do best in a quiet home where I can be spoiled with love. What is my personality like? I am a Chihuahua mix that transferred from another rescue. Before I was rescued, I was found a stray somewhere in the big state of Texas! I am looking for a bright new future with a family that will love me unconditionally. I am sweet, quiet and petite. My hearts desire is to always be in your lap! I love treats, but I do not know any basic commands yet. I walk great on a leash and enjoy prancing through the grass. Toys interest me but I have not figured them out yet. My previous rescue mommy said I do not get along with kids.. but I have been tested with a sweet and gentle 7 year old that I completely adored! If there are kids in the home, I would appreciate it if they were calm and loved to give gentle attention. When I bond with someone and they leave, I do tend to give little whines until that someone appears. I would love to be someone's baby! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and gentle. More tips and tidbits: House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 3/21/2016 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
