A4715405 Pee Wee | Chihuahua A4715405 Pee Wee is a gentle 5-year-old fawn/brindle neutered male Chihuahua mix whose owner surrendered him to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center (we don’t know why) on September 9th. Weighing 8 lbs, Pee Wee lives up to his name - he is so small and cute! But Pee Wee is overwhelmed by the noisy shelter and drastic change to his life, so he is fearful. In fact, he was sadly too fearful to be taken out for transport to another region where he could have been adopted quickly. Pee Wee is okay on a leash, but didn’t really want to walk around the shelter. He prefers to be a lapdog. He also warmed up after a while, once he spent enough time in one of our volunteer’s arms. He’s been at the shelter for more than a month now (as of October 7th), which is simply too long for any dog, much less one who is so shaken by the environment. We know this boy will blossom once he’s at home watching movies on your lap. With his olive-colored eyes, medium energy level and sweet disposition, this wee boy will be a perfect indoor dog in any type of household (though if it’s a house with small children, you’ll want to teach them how to respect his small size). Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet

  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life.
