g I really am! Bobby is such a sweet gentle soul that came into our lives. He was found in a dump in Puerto Rico without a family to call his own. He unfortunately had probably lived most of his life on the street. His face has a million stories, but of course we can only assume and never know. It is unbelievable that he is so sweet and gentle given what his past life has likely been. He has nothing but love to provide to each and every person he meets. His tail does a complete 360 degree turn each time he sees someone. He just wants to be petted and told what a handsome boy he is. He loves to try and sit on our daughter's lap and just lay there for pets and be read to. Bobby is listed as a lab mix and is estimated to have been born December 2010. We have built his muscles up and he actually does wonderful on walks and loves them! He even successfully ran two miles next to a bike and had the time of his life! He is so gentle that our 7 year old daughter walks him without any issues at all. Bobby does have cataracts in both eyes therefore his sight is not what it used to be but he still gets around great. He is fully crate trained and sleeps quietly at night. Bobby currently lives with other dogs and children and truly is a gentle lovable dog. He does not like dogs that are in your face so slow introductions are best with him to make sure he adjusts well. Also, at this time he should not be placed in a home with cats. As a foster family we would never change anything about Bobby because he is perfect the way he is. We hope there is a family out there that will love him like we do as he deserves nothing else! Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application. Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet! A home visit is required prior to adoption. Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination: Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue. We do not guarantee this determination.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
