happens to the best of us and our 17 pounds of sweetness wrapped up in the cutest package you ever did see is just as irresistible. Meet the one and only Lollipop! She is a one and a half year old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix that is pure sweetness from her nose to the tip of her tail. Look at all the love she has in her eyes, they speak volumes of how this girl yearns to be with her forever family. Her love is endless and all she craves is a chance to be a great canine companion. Lollipop is a great little dog bursting at the seams with her confident and sweet personality. She loves other dogs of any and all sizes. She thinks that children are great too and will enjoy a play session with another dog, children or both any day of the week. Lollipop has a medium energy level that works with the average family lifestyle. Playtime can consist of routine walks around the neighborhood or even attending a dog park on occasion. That would be the perfect opportunity for Lollipop to meet even more friends. Indoors can be a blast for Lollipop as well. She can run around with her favorite toys that will keep her busy and content at the same time. When the playtime ends, it's the start of her snuggle time. She is an endearing girl that her forever family will want her close to them all the time. A nice warm spot for her on the sofa with some tummy rubs would be just what the doctor ordered. Lollipop is a go getter and is in the process of learning her house, crate and leash training. She is a trooper and is learning on a steady course. She will need someone who has the time and patience to help her across the finish line and make her a success. A sweet tooth is hard to pass up, especially when the rewards are so satisfying. Lollipop has her craving for a home where she will be even more tempting then any treat there is. Her forever family will be more than satisfied with her because they will be loved to the greatest depths of Lollipop's heart. The fee for adoption is $450. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations and transport fees. Interested in adopting Lollipop? To get the ball rolling head over to .dogstarrescue/the-form/ and submit your application today. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
