05/31/2018 - UPDATE -
Hello. I am now healthy enough to tell you all about what has been happening. You know that I had a bad life before CSAC rescued my sisters and me. All I can think about now is how lucky I am and how good I am finally feeling. My skin is looking wonderful. My super foster mom says I am getting a coat like velvet. I am SO happy to have her and my foster sibling Penny. She is teaching me all sorts of fun things, like playing with squeaky toys. She shows me how to pick them up and then shake, shake, shake them. Right now though, the squeaky toys are off limits for a short time because I am recovering from cataract surgery. I had the surgery a week ago, and my vet is very pleased with how great I am doing. Mom loves watching me as I am seeing things for the first time. I have discovered that those squirrels in my backyard are some goofy little creatures. The other day there were two of them playing around. I had to keep looking back and forth from one to another to catch every move they made. What a good time that was! I am healthy now - ears are good and eye pressures are good. I am almost totally housetrained, too. Mom said I am a velcro Cocker. She had to explain that one to me, but now I get it. I just love her so much I want to be right where she is. Sometimes I lay on Mom's feet. I only weigh 25 pounds, so Mom is fine with that. I am not a barker. But boy, am I an affectionate girl. I LOVE belly rubs, pets, and I give great kisses. Now I am waiting for my new family to come and meet me. I cannot wait. Please tell CSAC that you want to meet Miss Hanna. Love and sweet kisses - Hanna
MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION:
Hello, my name is Hanna, and I just arrived at CSAC from a shelter along with my sisters Paris and Paige. I was taken from my former owner because of neglect. I have spent my whole life outside in a home made kennel in lots of muck. I had fleas so bad that I tested as anemic, and my skin had an allergic reaction so I have lost some of my fur. My ears are infected. I have a cataract in one eye and my other eye has elavated pressure. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are trying to make me as healthy as possible. When I was spay, I had mammary tumors that were removed and the biopsy came back benign! Everyone says I am very loving and affectionate. The back yard breeder who owned me taught me nothing. I need to learn how to be a dog. I need a loving home where I can be house trained, taught how to do doggie things like walk on a leash, and visit an Eye Specialist. I may not regain my sight. Hopefully, I will find that new family who will turn me into a happy, cherished pet and accept me even with my special needs. Can you help?

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. If you can help, please donate.
