up to date on all my shots, and neutered! I am ready to meet you! My foster mom says I’m just the sweetest guy. I love everyone and everything (that includes food!). I really like my foster brother (dog) and love following him around the house. We’re like a tiny legged wolfpack protecting the house! I would love a new wolfie companion in my future home! It's unknown how I am with cats, but it can be tested before adoption if needed. I am leash trained and would love to take some slow-paced walks around the neighborhood with my new human. Oh! I can say hello to all the neighbors! Just wait and see how much everyone gushes over how cute I am! I am house trained, and crate trained. I actually love my crate! It reminds me of the wolf I am and it’s my safe dark den. Maybe on the next full moon we could hang out in the yard and work on our howling? The neighbors will love it, trust me! Who doesn’t love a good wolf howl?! I'm not a barker....but the moon is worth a good howl! When I’m not out on wolf patrol, I love my naps. If you want to watch TV, I will keep your lap nice and warm as I snooze. That is one of my favorite places to be! I would like a yard that I can explore and do more wolf things in. I am not a high energy dog, but I do love my strolls through the grass. Maybe we could start a garden together! My dream home would be a calmer home, preferably without very young children that might try to carry me around. I would also love a human that thinks getting tiny stairs for the couch is a great idea! I’ve seen them on TV and one day I would LOVE my own tiny stairs. With my long back and little legs, I just can’t jump around anymore (don’t tell my wolf friends). My foster mom says I listen and mind my manners very well. I promise to be the best boy in my future home with you and we can make so many adventures together! If you think this handsome wolf would be a great addition to your home, please apply today! .tireddogrescue

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
