He is a sweet boy and just needs a quiet home where he can be loved and cared for. Clover had successful back surgery two years ago, and for that reason, he should never be allowed to jump on and off furniture or do any steps. Also, his weight must be maintained to prevent him from having back issues again. Please do not let this scare you. As with many dogs with previous back injuries, you will just have to be more careful. You should always be careful with a dachshund’s long back, even those with no history of spinal issues. Clover has a very calm demeanor and would be great with another small dog who also wants to lead the laidback lifestyle.
