is a great dog! She had a tough beginning. She was passed around several homes and then given away as a pregnant female on Craigslist. Six months ago, Panda came into our rescue. Poor baby was skin and bones, weighing 13 pounds, nursing her 7 one-week-old puppies. She was friendly but timid. She quickly adapted, settling into her new life with her foster family. Once we began vetting this sweet girl, we found that she also had heart worms. Well, now her puppies are in loving forever homes and her heart worms have been treated. It is Panda’s turn to find her happily-ever-after, as a treasured companion in a loving home. Panda is a loving, good-natured girl, who has a sassy side, at times. She will bark at the front door, but enjoys company of all ages. Panda will bump the other dogs with her round body when racing toward a goal, but is ultimately happy sharing the achievement. Panda loves to eat, play, cuddle and sleep next to you in bed. She will often bark and growl when first meeting other dogs, but once she decides that she is safe, she is ready to play. Someone very loving and lucky is out there waiting to be Panda's forever partner. Panda is currently in TN but will be transported to New England for adoption. AAUAR is courtesy listing Panda for Guardian Angels Pet Rescue (GAPR) of Memphis, TN. All GAPR dogs are fostered in Tennessee. The adoption donation is $400 which includes a health certificate, transport north and a micro chip. *Unless stated otherwise, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, on flea/tick product and heart worm prevention medicine (if older than 5 months) and micro chipped prior to adoption. *Please note that while we do our best to accurately state the breed or breed mix of a dog, we often have very limited information to draw from. Identifying the breed without pedigrees and information on heritage can be very challenging! If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please go to www.angelsamongusanimalrescue.org and fill out an online adoption application. Thank you! Effective April 17, 2015 a Quarantine Fee of $75 will be required (in addition to the adoption fee) to adopt a dog that has been Quarantined in MA. These states mandate that all dogs entering MA shall be quarantined for 48 hours in a state approved facility. Angels Among Us Animal Rescue collects the Quarantine Fee in addition to the adoption fee when the contract is sent out.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
